Tyson Fury Beats Derek Chisora After Referee Stops Brutal Beatdown.

Tyson Fury successfully defended his WBC world heavyweight title on Saturday night after his contest with Derek Chisora was stopped by referee Victor Loughlin.

It was no surprise that Fury was the overriding favourite going into this trilogy fight and it showed from the opening bell.

Chisora did come out swinging at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but this all but lasted a few seconds as Fury used his superior range to nullify any threat 'Del Boy' posed.

Round one saw Fury land numerous right and left uppercuts, and this was a pattern which persisted for the whole fight.

A Fury right hand rocked Chisora in the third, but he somehow continued to take the punishment which began to make the contest an uncomfortable watch.
The damage from Fury's vicious assault was clear to see on Chisora as he slumped to his stool at the end of round seven with a slowly closing right eye as a result of the hard-hitting Fury left hands and a cut mouth.
The best thing for Chisora to do was be pulled out by his corner or the referee, but despite referee Loughlin's advice to trainer Don Charles at the end of round nine, Charles insisted that Chisora was okay to continue.
When both fighters met in the centre for the 10th round, Loughlin kept a close eye on Chisora and just nine seconds in he brought an end to what was a brutal beatdown.

A 40-year-old man of Chirundu district in Zambia has died after a crocodile attacked him while he was fishing.

Richard Mwale's canoe capsized when the crocodile hit into it and in the process of trying to swim to safety, it attacked and killed him.

Zambia police assistant Public Relations officer Godfrey Chilabi who confirmed the incident said that the incident occurred yesterday around 04:00 hours in Jordan Kapululita fishing area in the Zambezi river.

"Police received a report from Jackson Mwewa aged 39 of Chibaketi township in Chirundu District who reported that his nephew namely Richard Mwape of the same village had been attacked and killed by crocodile. Preliminary investigations indicate that whilst fishing, the deceased was attacked after the crocodile hit into the dug out canoe which later capsized. In the process he was caught by a crocodile while his uncle managed to swim to safety," he said.

He said that a team constituting of officers from the Zambia Police Service and the Department of Wildlife and National Parks conducted a search excercise.

"Later in the afternoon around 17:00hours,some human body parts were found and identified by relatives as that of the deceased person. Around the same vicinity, a crocodile was spotted with the deceased's leg in its mouth and it was killed. The main body is still missing while the recovered parts have been deposited in Mtendere Mission Hospital in Chirundu," he said.

Davido and Chioma loses their 3 year old son, Ifeanyi.

Ifeanyi died by drowning at Davido's Banana Island home. He was rushed to Evercare Hospital in Lekki where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Davido and Chioma had traveled for a family gathering to Ibadan yesterday and had left Ifeanyi with his minders who can't explain how he entered the pool without being noticed and drowned.

A distraught and inconsolable Davido was removed from Evercare Hospital and taken to his father's house where he remains as at press time.

Our hearts are with Davido and Chioma in such a hard and sad time.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has redesigned some new naira notes.

Godwin Emefiele, CBN governor, said this at a press conference on Wednesday.

Emefiele said the new design and issues will be effective from December 2022.

He advised Nigerians to take old notes to banks for the new notes.

Liz Truss Resigns As British Prime Minister, After 45 Day Tenure.

Prime Minister Liz Truss resigned Thursday following a failed tax-cutting budget that rocked financial markets and which led to a revolt within her own Conservative Party.

Truss said in a statement outside Downing Street, "We set out a vision for a low-tax, high-growth economy that would take advantage of the freedoms of Brexit."

"I recognize though, given the situation, I cannot deliver the mandate on which I was elected by the Conservative Party. I have therefore spoken to His Majesty the King to announce that I am resigning as leader of the Conservative Party."

The party is now due to complete a leadership election within the next week, faster than the usual two-month period. Graham Brady, the Conservative politician who is in charge of leadership votes and reshuffles, told reporters he was now looking at how the vote could include Conservative MPs and the wider party members.

Truss was in office for just 44 days, making her the shortest-serving prime minister in British history. For 10 days of her premiership government business was paused following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Her resignation came after a meeting with Brady, who chairs the 1922 Committee — the group of Conservative MPs without ministerial positions who can submit letters of no confidence in the prime minister.

Just before the meeting, a Downing Street spokesperson told reporters Truss wanted to stay in office.

During the hour the meeting lasted, the number of MPs publicly calling for Truss to step down reached 17. The number who have written letters to Brady expressing no confidence in the prime minister was reported to be more than 100 by Thursday.

The pound was up 0.5% on the day against the dollar an hour after the announcement, trading at $1.1273, briefly touching a session high. It remains at the level it was on Sept. 22, before Truss' market-moving budget. The yields on 30-year, 10-year and five-year gilts (U.K. sovereign bonds) were down by around 5 basis points after Truss' brief speech.

Asisat Oshoala Laments; WhatsApp Is Full Of 'Billing

Nigerian footballer, Asisat Oshoala, has lamented about the rate at which people beg on messaging app, WhatsApp.

She even suggested that the app should be renamed 'Billing' App.

She said this on her Twitter handle on Friday.

Oshoala said that people mostly use the app to beg for money saying in Pidgin English, "You see that WhatsApp ehn, them suppose don rename as Billing app, cus you see that green App ehn, na billing full am. Who curse that app ‘edakun’? “

'Billing' is a slang for begging for money.

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, has advised the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to obey the National Industrial Court (NIC) ruling and call off its ongoing nationwide strike, while negotiations are ongoing.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has approached the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, asking it to set aside the judgement of the National Industrial Court, NIC, that ordered to call off its over seven-month old strike action.
The union, in a 14-ground of appeal it lodged through its team of lawyers led by a frontline human rights activist, Mr. Femi Falana, SAN, equally applied for a stay of ex*****on of the judgement.

It will be recalled that the NIC had in a judgement that was delivered last Wednesday by Justice Polycarp Hamman, ordered the striking varsity lecturers to return to the classroom, pending the determination of a suit the Federal Government filed to query the legality of their strike action.
The interim injunction directing ASUU members to resume work, followed an application FG filed through its lawyer, Mr. James Igwe.

Justine Hamman held that the order was both in national interest and for the sake of undergraduates in the country that have been at home since February 14.

He held that the strike action was detrimental to public university students that cannot afford to attend private tertiary institutions.

“The balance of convenience tilts in favour of the applicant.

“I hold that this application is meritorious and this application is granted”, Justice Hamman ruled.
