*NIGER REPUBLIC IS AN EXTENSION OF NORTHERN NIGERIA.*

-Joseph Daudu (SAN)

I don't believe that Tinubu does not know the implications of his warmongering stance against Niger Republic.

If he does not know, at least the Realists in his team must have worked out the implications by now. It has grave religious and ethnic downside.

There is a school of thought encouraging him to go on this warmongering stance.

These people including the Oduduwa Republic adherents, the Biafrans, Asari Dokubo and the Ijaw nation, the Bokists, and many other inchoate splinter groups who would move ' to their tents' and declare their own nations when the Tinubu cataclysm erupts.

No nation goes to war on behalf of Neocolonialists and other parasitic world powers to enforce democracy. What happened to the principle of 'Non interference in the internal affairs of other nations' which the Western nations studiously adhere to.

Why is Mr President crying louder than the bereaved?

The other tactics to secure votes and win an election not the same or even worse than a coup d etat?

I think the usual platitudes should just have been mouthed by our President and then leave the people of Niger to sort themselves out.

He has stopped electricity flow to Niger.

Does he know that we supply electric power to Niger Republic in exchange for their not constructing a Dam on their own end of the River Niger, which would have completely ruined the lives of millions of Nigerians and which will put the Kainji, Jebba and Shiroro dams out of business.

The electricity we supply is a small price we pay for the Nigerienes not to dam the said River.

He should have consulted with General Gowon who would have explained the depth of Nigeria's relationship with Niger starting with the reign of President Hamani Diori.

Finally, the arms dealers like vultures are locked in on this threat of war. The biggest arms dealers are the same countries encouraging ECOWAS to go to war on behalf of democracy that th

Niger Cuts Ties with the US, France, Togo and Nigeria

Colonel Abdramane, the Junta leader in Niger, has announced on state television that the coup leaders have cut ties with the four nations. Niger’s ambassadors in the four nations have been recalled.

This came following failed efforts that were aimed at resolving the political deadlock after the ousting of President Mohamed Bazoum last week.

Army chiefs in West Africa, including the Gambia’s chief of Defense Staff, Lieutenant General Yankuba Drammeh are on the verge of concluding a meeting in Nigeria over a potential military intervention in Niger if all diplomatic efforts to reinstate the democratically-elected President in Nigeria fail to go through.

Let’s learn about Burkina Faso, celebrating its 63rd Independence Day today, August 5, 2023!

Burkina Faso will always have a special place in my heart. When I fell in love with Africa, she was one of the first to catch my eye. At a crossroads in Africa where for centuries fertile land has been fighting desertification. Where adherents of the same God of Abraham battle, and where Africans fighting for Africa have never given up the fight, the Sahel.

Cradled by the Red, White, and Black Volta (Portuguese for return) Rivers, Burkina Faso was originally named Upper Volta after them. It is an incredible nation that could only exist in Africa. Just over half of its population are descended from the Mossi Empire, a nation that held its weight against two of Africa's greatest Empires, Mali and Songhai. If you study Africa, you'll find all the pedigree of ancient African civilization here.

Migration on the African continent was and is a major factor in shaping Africa as it has been over the millenia.

STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE

FORENSIC AUDIT OF CBN UNDERWAY AS WE WIN BACK INVESTOR CONFIDENCE, PRESIDENT TINUBU TELLS WORLD BANK CHIEF

President Bola Tinubu says a comprehensive forensic audit of the Central Bank is underway, while a thorough overhaul of the Civil Service payroll is imminent.

The President disclosed this during an audience with the President of the World Bank, Mr. Ajay Banga on Friday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

''A comprehensive forensic audit is on-going at the Central Bank. We are going to do very serious structural review of the Civil Service payroll. I can't believe in the numbers I'm seeing and I’ve had that experience before at the state level.

''The reforms are in tandem with Nigeria's Ease of Doing Business programme. We'll block all financial loopholes. The reforms will be targeted at the way we work, change of attitude and equally on educating our people. It’s costly but we will do it,'' he said.

Highlighting Nigeria’s resilience and intellectual prowess, the President implored the Bretton Woods institution to view the country as a significant player within the global community, not solely as a struggling economy.

‘‘We stand as a vibrant and educated society, seeking to avert chaos through strategic interventions. Your proactive engagement aligns with our quest for partnership, and together, we shall pursue mutual benefits that enrich us all,’’ he said.

On poverty alleviation, the President called for more increased support from the World Bank, expressing optimism for a productive collaboration between Nigeria and the World Bank that will lead to mutual benefits and sustainable progress.

He also discussed the ongoing efforts to address issues such as subsidy removal, foreign exchange mismanagement, exchange rates, inflation, liquidity, and debt management.

President Tinubu also shared insights into his administration's substantial reforms, including those aimed at consolidating improvements in Nigeria's oil industry, enhanci

STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE

PRESIDENT TINUBU DISPATCHES ENVOY TO NIAMEY, URGES ROBUST DIALOGUE TO END IMPASSE

The Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has dispatched a delegation to Niger Republic with a mandate to expeditiously resolve the current political impasse in the country.

The action was in line with the resolution reached at the end of the extraordinary summit of the ECOWAS held last weekend in Abuja.

The delegation, headed by former Nigerian Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (Rtd), left for Niamey on Thursday following a briefing by President Tinubu at the State House in Abuja.

The former Nigerian Head of State is joined in the delegation by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar III and the President of the ECOWAS Commission, H.E. Omar Alieu Touray.

The President has also sent a separate delegation led by Ambassador Babagana Kingibe to engage with the leaders of Libya and Algeria on the Niger crisis.

Briefing the two delegations, President Tinubu charged them to engage all stakeholders robustly with a view to doing whatever it takes to ensure a conclusive and amicable resolution of the situation in Niger for the purposes of African peace and development rather than a move to adopt the geopolitical positions of other nations.

"We don't want to hold brief for anybody. Our concern is democracy and the peace of the region," the President said.

Speaking after the meeting, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (Rtd) said the delegation would meet the coup leaders in Niger to present the demands of the ECOWAS leadership.

Both leaders of the two missions expressed optimism on the outcome of the assignments.
