CHILD UPBRINGING MATTERS; PARENTS, GOVERNMENT HAVE ROLES TO PLAY - BONNY LG CHAIRMAN

Ahead of the forthcoming national children's day celebration to be marked in Bonny for the third consecutive time on Monday, May 27th, 2024 at Government School Field, Bonny by 10am, the Executive Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Dame Hon Anengi Barasua Claude-Wilcox, DSSRS, JP., has highlighted the impact of proper child upbringing, noting that parents have the primary role while the various tiers of government play complimentary roles.

The Council Boss stated that the experiences being noticed in today's society are by-products of how children were raised years ago, calling on parents to step-up their game by ensuring they instill the right values, virtue and education to guarantee a blissful future for children and the society at large.

The LGA Boss who gave this charge in Bonny today during a children's day variety event organised by a not-for-profit; "Foundation for Women Development", said beyond her initiation of Free School Buses for children together with other interventionist programs, she would continue to go the extra-mile on behalf of government and as an individual for the welfare of children in Bonny and beyond.

Highpoint of the day was the presentation of 650,000 naira in cash to exceptionally performing kids and their respective wining schools by the Council Boss, awards conferment, and an appreciation remark by the Convener, Mrs Joyce Uke.

BONNY LG CHAIRMAN ATTENDS ASSEMBLY PLENARY, EGBEDA INTERNAL ROADS INAUGURATION

In a show of solidarity with her Constituency representative, Rt. Hon. Victor Oko-Jumbo who is now the Speaker of the 10th Rivers State House of Assembly, the Executive Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Dame Hon Anengi Barasua Claude-Wilcox, DSSRS, JP., was among guests who attended and observed today's plenary of the Rivers State House of Assembly at the Hallowed Chambers, Admin Block, Government House, Port Harcourt where Commissioner nominees were screened and confirmed.

Afterwards, the Council Boss joined the Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Amaopusenibo Sir Siminialayi Fubara, GSSRS, for the inauguration of the Egbeda internal road project as part of the milestone achievements of the administration in commemoration of the Governor's first anniversary which was performed by the Delta State Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori.

The Distinguished Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Victor Oko-Jumbo, in company with Honourable Assembly Members and other notable personalities were at Obio/Akpor Local Government Area this afternoon in solidarity with the Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Amaopusenibo Sir Siminialayi Fubara, GSSRS, for the flag-off of the 5km Okania-Egbelu-Mgbaraja-Ogbogoro road project in commemoration of the Governor's one year anniversary in office.

The 10-meter wide road will feature drainage and is set for completion in 5 months. The project is funded entirely from the state's internally generated revenue and widely praised in Rivers State.

The Executive Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Dame Hon Anengi Barasua Claude-Wilcox, DSSRS, JP., today attended the flagg-off ceremony for the construction of the Okania-Egbelu-Mgbaraja-Ogbogoro road project at Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

The flagg-off ceremony was part of activities marking the impressive one year anniversary in celebration of the Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Amaopusenibo, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, GSSRS.

NOTICE OF MAY MONTHLY SANITATION EXERCISE IN BONNY LGA

This serves as a notification to residents across Bonny Local Government Area that the sanitation exercise for this month has been scheduled to hold tomorrow Saturday, May 25, 2024 between the hours of 7am and 10am.

The excercise will witness increased supervision as Government Officials would be in place to ensure that shop owners and traders also join in cleaning their business premises and drainages in preparation for the peak of this year's raining season.

Accordingly, the Authority of Bonny Local Government Council would not tolerate street football, loitering, none-participation and other unwholesome conducts opposed to the sanitation exercise.

Residents and business owners are encouraged to w**d surrounding grasses, distillate neighbourhood drainages, and dispose dirt only at designated pickup points.
