My Ambition Is To Give Awka North And South Effective Representation -- Hon. Obi Nwankwo.
The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, for Awka North and South Federal Constituency in the February 2023 general, Honourable Obi Nwankwo, says his ambition to represent his people is motivated by selflessness and passion for service.
Honourable Nwankwo who stated this while fielding questions from journalists in Awka, explained that both his service history as former commissioner in three different ministries in Anambra State, as well as his family orientation, reflect credibility, quality and purpose driven.
He said that he is gunning for the Awka North and South top position given the fact that the people of the area have been underrepresented in the past and as such have missed out on the gains of development.
In his words, "My people of Awka North and South Federal Constituency require good rural roads to enable them transport their agricultural products to the markets. Our youths require jobs, so, I will be pushing for more employment and economic opportunities for them in federal agencies and parastatals. I will also explore opportunities for interest-free or reduced interest loans, grants and aids from Federal and state government owned financial institutions, and foreign donor agencies, that will benefit our entrepreneurs and enable them to scale up their businesses."
He noted that as a three-time commissioner, his boasts the requisite know-how and brings to table a network of experience that will extensively benefit the people of Awka North and South, a trait that other contenders do not have.
"I served as a commissioner in three different ministries for eight years under Governor Obiano. I started as Commissioner for Science and Technology, was later transferred to the Ministry of Public Utilities where I championed the state-wide ‘Light Up Anambra’ community streetlights Project, plus other initiatives. I was later moved to the Ministry of Environment where I championed the ‘Dobe AnambraỌcha’ environmental campaign plus other initiatives.
"I am bringing all these experiences to bear as I seek to represent the good people of Awka North and South. Ndi Awka North and South Federal Constituency have not been fairly represented in the past. Ours is an agrarian and entrepreneurial constituency. The full potentials of the area and its people have not been well harnessed.
I believe that with my experience as a successful businessman, and 3-term commissioner in Anambra State under Governor Willie Obiano, I will make the difference. It’s not about just going to the Green Chamber to warm the chair; I will leverage on my contacts to attract infrastructural development to my people. I have very strong networks across Nigeria. Such bridge-building skills are highly essential for a federal lawmaker in Nigeria. I will sponsor bills that will positively affect not only the lives of my constituents, but those of Nigerians", he explained.
Honourable Nwankwo further stated that despite some challenges faced by INEC, he is optimistic that the commission will do a good job this time, explaining that with Nigerians very hopeful of a better future through the election of better set of leaders, INEC cannot afford to compromise that ambition.

LET'S VOTE HON OBI NWANKWO FOR A GREATER AWKA NORTH AND SOUTH
Hon. Obi Nwankwo of APGA for Reps, Awka North & South: The Man, His Mission, His Vision & His Aspirations.
Nothing ever stops a destiny whose time has come. For a fact, rigors, pitfalls, obstacles and shortcomings may stay in the way, but when the time is right, nothing can really stop it.
Introduction:
Awka North and South Federal Constituency in Anambra State hasn’t truly enjoyed any worthwhile representation at the National Assembly in donkey years. What we have had as representatives for Anambra North and South hasn’t been that energetic or robust, ebullient, powerful or strong voices that many are always on the look out for. If anything, many who dared failed woefully.
There hasn’t been truly a voice, any voice at that which has really impressed a vast majority of our people. There seems to be no one, yet there has been people angling for, daring to and even winning to serve in the past, yet their performance index has been a ridiculous outing and yes, too poor to say the least.
The question everyone is now asking is: who shall go for us? Who will bail the cat? Is there no serious man or woman in the entire Awka North and South?
Somehow, the box now stops at the front of us all, the electorates. At our various polling units, armed with ballot papers, our thumb or index fingers inked, ready to cast that vote, a decision is left before us to make or mar. If we are really serious this time, we take charge and change things for the better. However, we may choose to take avoidable risks, but as the religious would say, “God forbid!”
Somehow, one is sadly, left with near-no option, but in consonance with the Peter Obi’s dauntless quotable quote turned question of 2003, I dare query, “is Awka North and South Federal Constituency cursed, or are we the cause?” Ofcourse, when Obi eventually became elected Governor, in undertakings, outings and work, more than ever before, he proved to the world that Anambra wasn’t caused, instead that we Anambrarians were the cause.
Sometimes, good timing brings forth perfect opportunities. Somehow, there seems to be this reawakening in the act of leadership, and God’s grace, the wind of glory and breath of fresh air is about to behold our people. A golden opportunity isn’t one that comes constant, but whenever it does, we must grab same with both hands, proudly.
One of such moments, one of such time and one of such golden opportunities has come, and it’s coming in human form, and here, we have an audacity which is giving up himself, whole and entire in service to our people. We have a young man who has tilled the land, walked the talk and performed reasonably high. It’s not necessarily about hearsays or media hype, there’re pointers, there’re evidences, the Obidients would shout, “go and verify!” Indeed, they’re all verifiable.
Sometimes, whenever we want to engage the services of people, we question about how far they’ve fared from time. We question their paths, their past and their antecedents. There should be obvious pointers to their attainments, not hearsays, not figments, not imaginations, and definitely, not half truths. I mean, reality that comes with dauntless clarity.
What’s Coming:
Indeed, at this point in our political history and life, we are a lucky people, we have a man with track record of successes in variant fields, endevours and undertakings. A man who has done well for himself, for his family, for his community. One who has done well in the business world, who has diligently served the Government and humanity generally also. We have a great son and a priceless asset of great pride in him.
I present to you a man who is not afraid to dare, who cannot be stopped by failures of those before him and one whose many works of attendant successes are his greatest assets. I present to you: Hon. Obi Nwankwo, the candidate of Anambra’s ruling political party, All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA for Federal House of Representatives, Awka North and South in Anambra State.
Who’s Hon. Obi Nwankwo:
Obiorah Nwankwo is a native of Nibo in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nigeria. Obi as he’s fondly called by family, friends and well wishers is a family man, a cerebral leader and a consummate professional with track record of successes in various undertakings of his.
Education:
Obi Nwankwo attended his secondary education at National Grammar School, Nike, in the old Anambra State, now Enugu State. After that, he sat and passed his WASSC, coming out in flying colors, got admitted into the prestigious University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, UNEC where he studied Estate Management.
Upon graduation, he did his one year compulsory National Youth Service with the prestigious estate management firm, Knight Frank and Rutley, in the commercial nerve center of Nigeria, Lagos, after which he set up his own company. Ofcourse, it’s not very regular to attain heights once one starts, but Obi Nwankwo was more than determined to dare, to push, to overcome and to succeed. In time, he was on the path to greatness.
Family:
Obi Nwankwo is a devout Christian and remarkably, a very compassionate human being. He has progressive ideas about community and human capacity development. He is happily married with children, and was a successful businessman before the former Governor of Anambra State, Chief. Willie Obiano invited him to come and serve Ndi Anambra State.
Mr. Nwankwo had always had business interest shuttling between Lagos and outside the Nigerian shores, with interests all along the European route from Germany to France, Spain to Italy et al, China in Asia, the United Kingdom and the United States of America. He has flourishing brands, contacts and networks all over.
There’s a reason why we always urge that people who want to play active roles in politics should be dutifully engaged. They must’ve day paying jobs. They must've roots or platforms from where they come. They must’ve something doing that they can always fall back on. Obi Nwankwo is not the self-styled Nigerian career politician. Therefore, there’s life outside politics for him.
Mr. Nwankwo has flourishing ventures and business before politics, which explains for why upon the elapse of the Willie Obiano administration, he returned back to his business. And onceagain, urged by his teeming followers, fans and supporters, has been encouraged to come and serve his people. A call which he has in utmost humility, dedication and reverence accepted. Again, leaving his chains of businesses for human capacity service and development.
Hon. Obi Nwankwo and Anambra State Government:
At the assumption of office of His. Excellency, Chief. Willie Obiano as the executive Governor of Anambra State, he sorted for the many likes of Mr. Nwankwo to help him in building and developing Anambra State. Chief. Obiano engaged the services of Obi Nwankwo right from his first tenure. Hon. Nwankwo was first sworn-in as Honorable Commissioner for Science and Technology in Anambra State.
As Commissioner, he introduced many new ways of doing things. His time as Commissioner in the Ministry birthed many innovations, technological progress and his giant strides brought about huge progressivism for the Ministry and State generally. He was later moved to the Public Utilities Ministry still as Commissioner. It was in this Ministry that he astounded and even doubled his giant strides in service of Anambra State. The records are there, and are very verifiable. He finally concluded as Commissioner for Environment, where he left impactful legacies.
Obi Nwankwo As A Candidate:
In a keenly contested primary elections which featured some of Awka North and South greatest sons, very powerful individuals who are highly connected, traveled, vast and super wealthy, it was to be a fight to finish. To many, before that primary elections, whosoever that won the ticket was as good as the winner of the election proper by 2023.
In that primary election, some of the powerful individuals who he contested with, or squared up against were, a former House of Representatives member and former President General of Awka Development Union, Hon. Chief. Emeka Nwogbo, the Majority Leader of Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Dr. Pharm. Nnamdi Okafor and also, a wealthy oil magnet, Chief. Dr. Azubuike Ekweozor of Ocean Magnet Oil & Gas.
These were some of the powerful names that stood and contested for thesame ticket. It was a democracy and in a free and fair though keenly contested election, he clinched victorious with wide margin.
To the glory of God, he has now become the Flagbearer of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, for Awka North and South Constituency for the Federal House of Representatives elections coming up in 2023.
The goodnews is that Obi Nwankwo is eminently qualified, came amply prepared and for a fact, would astound many. In this election, he stands more like a sole candidate, apologies to other contenders from other political parties. Mr. Nwankwo has done a lot through various means and many of those great works of his has now become the pointers to how or what we, as a constituency should expect when he eventually gets elected into the Federal House of Representatives.
What Were His Antecedents And Successes:
It’s often said that if you intend to offer one a job, you must first understudy his past and verify his track records. That’s why employers ask for curriculum vitae(s) CV’s and/or letter of recommendations. Obi, as the Igbos say, is the “ahia oma na ere onwe ya” - “the good market that sells itself”. If he had been a success all the while, chances are high that he would continue to be a success. But, if he has track record of failures, chances are high that nothing would change.
Hon. Obi Nwankwo is a resounding success. We have compiled for record purposes, some of the major achievements of Hon. Obi Nwankwo, the 2023 Awka North and South Federal House of Representatives APGA aspirant. All these achievements enumerated herein are in his official capacity as a Commissioner during the administration of His Excellency, Chief. Willie Obiano, Governor of Anambra State from March 2014 till March 2022.
Obi Nwankwo served as Honorable Commissioner for three terms, covering at different times, three separate Ministries under the Willie Obiano two tenure administration of eight years as Governor. For clarity purposes, we have also carved it into parts: A, B and C, covering for the three ministries which he headed.
Part A: As Commissioner for Science & Technology (2014-2015)
(1) Installation of internet facility at the ministry. The first and only ministry to do so.

Obi Nwankwo has remained the audacity of hope, the perfect pointer to true service, diligence in same and one who showcases unity of purpose, dedication to service and even more. Mr. Nwankwo has proven beyond every reasonable doubts that it’s not the office that maketh the man, but instead, it’s the man that maketh the office.
As a media outfit, during Hon. Obi Nwankwo’s tenure as Commissioner, we have had the singular privilege, on two different occasions of paying him a courtesy visit and we were proud of what we saw, his undertakings and his willspirit to even do more. We saw in him a man who is powerfully dedicated, a man who has his eyes on the ball and at the goal, a man who was more than determined to dare and overcome. We saw a focused young man, we saw a man that would stop at nothing but success.
Obi Nwankwo has now like the sacrificial lamb, given up himself, his entire being, his time, talent and treasure all in the service of our people. He has a proven track record of successes in variant fields. If given the opportunity, he would surely do well. There’s no doubts about this.

For us in Awka North and South Federal Constituency, we are lucky. We have an Obi Nwankwo. He has what it takes. He has shown it on several occasions. There’re many pointers to the above assertion and dauntless clarities that he would do well. All we need do is to support the young man.

He’s an excellent creative thinker, a problem solver and a man determined to bring forth light wherever and whenever the opportunity comes calling. I encourage us to proudly support him.
