I wanted to kick off this week by sharing some important facts & start to show you just how common herpes is.

I get messages every day from both women AND men, either having been recently diagnosed with herpes or have been living with HSV for a while, saying how they feel like their life is over.

For me personally, in my 32 year journey of being a herbalist, I know and have heard so much about herpes simplex virus.

I’m here to share more info about herpes to help people who live with herpes and to educate the people who don’t - all with the goal of ending the shame and stigma that’s associated with the herpes virus and supporting the people who do!

Here are some up-to-date facts about herpes:

•HSV1 - Can be either or both oral AND ge***al herpes. An estimated 3.7 billion people under age 50 (67%) worldwide have HSV1

•HSV2 - Is primarily ge***al (rarely oral). An estimated 417 million people aged 15-49 (11%) worldwide have HSV2

•HSV-2 is more common in women than in men, with current studies estimating that 287 million women and 150 million men WORLDWIDE have HSV2

•For both HSV1 & HSV2, 67% of infected people are asymptomatic, meaning they experience no symptoms or symptoms that are too mild to notice.

•These folks are unaware that they have the HSV virus lying dormant in their nervous system, but are carriers of the virus and can transmit it to others (this is how herpes is most commonly transmitted).
Both types of herpes are curable and prevented through the use of herbal medication, diet, lifestyle changes decreasing the risks of transmission totally.
