For every song, there are usually lots of ideas, lines or attempts that will never make the final piece.
Keep writing β€οΈ
It is a SONG that becomes a HIT.
So create that song, market it and leave the audience to make it a hit.
Keep growing, keep writing.

My early morning writing be like:
When I sigh, there is no relief.
It's just a way I think I release the pain that does not leave.
Leaving you is my pain,
Having you is my gain.
Let's be plain with no ego
I need you back...
Sense or Nonsense?
When you craft beautiful lyrics and melodies to a slow jamz for people that only want to dance, it will seem you don't know what music is about.
Targeting the right audience is what makes the difference.
Know this and know peace as an artiste
When you listen to Country music regularly & consciously as a songwriter/artiste, your lyrics can never be shallow or incoherent.
It's just Country standard. Lyrics MUST be dope.
If rhythm is your strength as a songwriter, don't underrate yourself while improving your melodies and lyrics.
There are genres that the strong knowledge of rhythm can make you dominate.
Songwriting books you should read as a songwriter.

Know the difference
Out 7th June, 2022.
Decided to jump on this, what do you think?
I am not a RAPPER but write rap too.
Let's play around this today
Always enter each rehearsal with a focus/task as a songwriter.
You won't expect the shift in style for the verse.
I decided to write Orlando Owoh and Olamide kinda collabo.
What do you think?
Object writing is great but as a songwriter make sure you also do this regularly.
It opens your mind to write songs suitable for targeted artistes with same sound and style.
I decided to demonstrate the concept using a simple chorus with Wande Coal in mind.
What do you think?
Decided to jump on the progression by the Queen during rehearsal with this rough idea.
I chose a kid-friendly storyline ππ
Then my keyboardist stopped along the way to scratch her eye, imagine!
Anyways, what do you think?
Another songwriting method is to write lyrics and add melodies afterwards.
I wrote these lyrics two years ago and decided to work on it now.
Focus on the lyrics and melodies not the voice ππ€£π€£
What do you think?
No matter how I want to cover it, the influence still hiding somewhere to be tapped.
Play time in my songwriting rehearsal
Enjoy!
Music Positioning 101 π€π€π€
One of my major songwriting skills is the ability to understand elements of genres by just LISTENING.
Actually, I listen wide...
With that, I can creatively write any genre I am interested in.
In the mood of season, I decided to work on Rap in my rehearsal today.
I am not a Rapper but I write Rap πππ
What do you think?
I saw this rehearsal with Akintayo in my songwriting archive today and it's bringing back memories π₯°π.
Then with the little knowledge of Nuendo plus Abolarinwa's laptop and Ogundola's Headphone with mic.
It's time I take FULL PRODUCTION seriously.
Hope you find this snippet inspiring?
Enjoy!
You just have to enjoy this if you love music.
Great songwriters understand this.
Here is my playlist for this weekend.
Enjoy!
Have you established a songwriting routine?
Keep writing
Don't think the song makes sense? Write and do a demo anyways.
Happy Sunday to you all
πΆπ΅ Enjoy!
Inasmuch some languages could help the wide reach of songs, that does not necessarily mean any unpopular one may be a barrier to a song's popularity.
A great song, inspiring lyrics or catchy beat will always attract the attention of music fans.
And that's why I want to share two language-related techniques you can use to spice your songwriting.
This becomes easier if you can speak more than one language.
And if you can't, don't worry - you can learn few words/phrases for songwriting sake.
As an African, I know that these techniques are one of the dominant features of our music exports.
It helps foreigners especially English/French speaking countries to relate lyrically (beyond the sound) to some/major parts of our music.
And the techniques are simply called Code Mixing and Code Switching.
Though some linguists may use these terms interchangeably but as far as I am musically concerned, they are different.
CODE MIXING simply means mixing or embedding words, phrases etc of one language into another.
It connotes mixing two or more languages while communicating and this sound pretty fine in music too.
For instance, if you speak French as well as English, you can mix some English words in your French sentence.
Rihanna once sang:
"Te Amo, te amo, she says to me"
..which means "I love you, I love you she says to me" fully in English.
Just the "Te Amo" recurring beautifully in the song brings about touching lyrics and sweet flow that attract the attention of English and non-English music fans.
In fact, some got to know about the words and meaning after listening to Rihanna.
CODE SWITCHING, on the other hand, has to do with switching from one language to another.
In code switching, you are not just mixing few words of one language in between the other language.
You are definitely speaking one language and switching to another.
You can speak one sentence/whole paragraph in French and the next one in English.
Musically, your first line may be in Spanish and the second in English depending on your creativity.
A very good example is BTS's Life Goes On (2020) which is the first primarily Korean-language song to top the chart.
Here is the chorus that employs code switching:
Like an echo in the forest
νλ£¨κ° λμμ€κ² μ§
μ무 μΌλ μλ¨ λ―μ΄
Yeah, life goes on
Like an arrow in the blue sky
λ ν루 λ λ μκ°μ§
On my pillow, on my table
Yeah, life goes on like this again
There are other examples I can share especially from African artistes and I hope this makes sense to you to the level you try them out in your writings.
You will be surprised what that second language(s) can do to your songwriting if you code mix/switch.
Hope you find this helpful?
Enjoy!
PS: This applies to all languages.
