Gov. Diri presides over expanded emergency security council meeting
....as Govt imposes dusk-to- dawn curfew on Nembe-Bassambiri
...calls on police IG to withdraw SWAT team

Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, today held an expanded emergency state security council meeting.

The meeting held in Government House, Yenagoa had in attendance, all service commanders in the state, leadership of the Ijaw National Congress, the Bayelsa Elders council, the Nembe-Se congress and Ijaw Youth Council, Central Zone.

Addressing newsmen after the meeting, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security matters, CP Akpoebi Agberebi (Rtd) said, the following resolutions were reached:

1. A dusk- to -dawn curfew from 7pm to 6am has been imposed on Nembe-Bassambiri, and this curfew is to be enforced by all the security agencies in the state.

2. All youth and chieftaincy activities in Nembe-Bassambiri have been suspended until further notice. It was also resolved that an interim body will be set up by government to manage the affairs until further notice.

3. The youth president under the custody of the Department of State Services(DSS) should be further investigated and prosecuted if found wanting.

4. All the youths arrested and handed over to the police should be investigated and prosecuted if found wanting.

5. Mr. Kojo Sam and all those mentioned in the petition by Bassambiri community for their involvement in the February 15 killing should be arrested, investigated and prosecuted if found wanting.

6. Council also call on the Inspector-General of Police to withdraw his SWAT team and allow the existing joint security task force in Nembe to take charge of the security situation there until further notice.

I want to assure you that all the security agencies and members of the state security council will implement them to the latter to ensure that peace returns to Nembe-Bassambiri.

In his words “I am deeply touched by what I saw today and I have assured the people that our Government of Prosperity will take immediate action to address the environmental challenge.”

Gov. Diri visits Ernest Ikoli Media complex
..inspects new digital studio equipment at NDTV

Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri today, was at the Ernest Ikoli Media complex to inspect the new digital studio equipment installed at the State owned Niger Delta Television.

The governor was conducted round different units by the Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Mr. Ayiba Duba and the Acting General Manager of the station, Mr. Fred Fabor.

The different studio visited include the recording studio, transmitter hall and live studio where the presenter on duty, David Amabra, interviewed him on general issues of the development in the state, and the forthcoming gubernatorial election as part of their test transmission.

Governor Diri also offered automatic employment to some casual staff who were recently trained to operate new broadcast equipment at the Television Station.

Governor Diri also visited the live studio of the state owned radio station, Radio Bayelsa located within the Media Complex.

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, on the 25 July 2023 inspected the Angiama-Oporoma bridge and Akaba-Okodi road project.

Massive Road Infrastructure: Bayelsans Happy With Gov. Diri

Today, we spotlight the achievements of the current administration on massive road infrastructure in the past three years in office.

The newly constructed dual carriage Glorydrive from Ecumenical Centre to the Tombia/Amassoma road unarguably remains the single most flamboyant road in Bayelsa State today. Kudos to the Prosperity Government.

Conscious of the need to open up many areas with roads, the current administration embarked upon massive road construction to the admiration of the people.

Several communities which were hitherto accessed only by water have now been linked by roads and this development has reduced the travel time, reduce cost of traveling and opened the affected communities to new economic opportunities.

From Sagbama-Ekeremor road to Yenagoa-Oporoma-Ukubie road to Igbedi road and others, the people are heaving a sigh of relief.

Several bridges have been constructed along some of these roads to strengthen most of the roads- six bridges along Sagbama-Ekeremor road, Aguobiri bridge along Yenagoa-Oporoma-Ukubie road, the Angiama-Oporoma bridge across River Nun is ongoing and some bridges along the new Glorydrive for easy passage of water.

The Glorydrive and the ongoing Igbogene-AIT/Elebele Outer Ring Road will open up the State capital, Yenagoa. These two roads and other internal roads are part of the urbanization plan of Yenagoa.

There are several other completed and ongoing road projects and bridges in different parts of the State- Nembe Unity bridge, Elebele bridge, Isaac Boro Expressway, Onuegbum-Otuoke road, Akaba-Agbura-Ogu-Okodi road linking different riverine Ogbia communities, Toru-Orua-Bolou-Orua-Toru-Ebeni-Amatolo road and several internal roads in various communities and the State capital.

The commencement of the abandoned historic Nembe-Brass road currently undergoing sand filling has endeared the government to the people of Nembe in the Bayelsa East Senatorial District. This road connects the people to the sea to tap into the blue economy. This road connects people to Brass NLNG, Brass Fertilizer and Agip Oil Terminal.

The Prosperity Government is very deliberate leading the current road revolution which is opening up the state for industrialization and investments.

This government is strategic and focused. And that is one key reason majority of Bayelsans are backing the second term agenda.

Governor Douye Diri and Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, truly deserve another term in office. Let's support this aspiration for continuity and consolidation of various achievements toward the advancement of Bayelsa State.
