Reflections in Water' (2024)
Self portrait / Pen on paper
Often, people resist growing alongside with you. Instead of reflecting on their own stagnation, they question your transformation. It's a harsh reality. As you strive to better yourself, you'll inevitably lose some along the way, and the toughest part is embracing the fact that it's beyond your control. Breaking generational curses can mean walking a solitary path, with no applause, support, or company at the finish line. It's a silent battle that forces you to confront the person you've been evading yourself.
Most people aren't in willing to grow with you. They'll ask you why you changed instead of asking themselves why they've remained the same. That's life for you. You're going to lose people as you take the next step to bettering yourself and the hardest part is accepting there's absolutely nothing you can do about it. Breaking generational curses will sometimes require you to walk alone. There will be no one clapping, no one supporting, often times no one even at the finish line. These curses are broken in silence and force you to deal with the person you've been running from. Yourselfβ¦.. APRIL 2nd 9am I drop my most IMPORTANT art...EVER. Spread the wordβ¦

AFRICAN THREAD'
The hairstyles proudly display Nigerian social and cultural life in such a way that also brings forth an empowered sense of black femininity and black female sexuality. The subjectsβ backs to the camera allow for an inaccessibility on behalf of the viewer as we are not here to cast a forceful male-like gaze on the subjects, but rather appreciate Nigerian culture and femininity outside of ourselves. Through these elegant portraits, Hairstyles celebrates Nigerian identity and works as an artistic archival record.
