This is a common mistake a lot of businesses face! We have had situations where a business owner registered his/her business themselves (PRE INCORPORATION- which is possible to do on the CAC Portal and whether or not you are accredited or not) and afterwards, they would want to change the name of that business and they believe they can do that themselves, this is incorrect.

The first thing to understand is WHAT A POST INCORPORATION PROCESS IS UNDER CAC: to put in simpler terms, a post incorporation process are set down procedures conducted after a business/company/IT has been registered. For example, a change of business name, conversion of business to company name, change of directors/shareholders, change of registered address and others.

Why is it called POST INCORPORATION; it is because the business has been registered and CAC would work with the information they have of the business on their register/records

NOW THE QUESTION IS: CAN YOU DO A POST INCORPORATION PROCESS YOURSELF? The answer is YES/NO: it is “YES” if you are an ACCREDITED AGENT UNDER CAC and “NO” if you are not an Accredited Agent.

So as a Business Owner, if you are faced with the issue of trying to change your already registered business name to a company name or you need to alter some changes on your registered business, kindly consult with an Accredited Agent. You cannot do it via your account or portal on CAC.
