As a young child growing up in Nigeria, I was mocked and laughed at because of my speech impairment... I was a heavy stammerer and couldn't even say my name.

My primary One school teacher said I would never become anything in life. I'll never forget how she mocked me in front of the class for failing to say my Surname.
My father was a teacher too and he had to remove me from that school in Primary 2.
My father believed so much in me and told me that "it's only a matter of time" and that teacher would need my help.
Fast forward to 13 years ago... I was a guest speaker at Assemblies of God Church, Ikom District, Cross River State and the teacher attended the service.

Anyone who attended that service will remember that it was massive. At the end of the service, the drivers came to take me back to my hotel and guess who was running to have me lay hands on her? The teacher who once said I would amount to nothing. She recognised me but I didn't. Old age had been unkind to her. She introduced herself and apologized for misjudging my destiny. I laid hands on her head as she requested and told her I forgave her. I would later pay her a monthly allowance until she passed on. She started calling me "Papa" - a title reserved for religious leaders in Nigeria.
Those were days before I evolved...
In my Evolved state, I wouldn't allow someone the age of my mother to call me Papa. Those were some of my concerns as a religious leader - I never understood why an older person should bow before a Younger person all in the name of Spiritual Fatherhood. It's unfair to the Gray hair on the old. It's unfair.

Back to my story, there's nobody who laughed at me or mocked my disability that's anywhere close to people who work for my organisations. WRITE THIS DOWN - BULLIES NEVER OUTGROW THEIR VICTIMS.
