Since six years ago that the ban has been imposed, students of the institution have been lobbying for the reinstatement of the union both locally and nationally.
During the courtesy visit of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) led by its Chairman, Comrade Busari Abiola to YABATECH Rector Engr. Obafemi Omokungbe when he just assumed office, NANS canvassed for the return of SUG in YABATECH, and Rector told them that his administration is putting every hand on deck to restore SUG in the College and the process is at advance stage.
Recently, YABATECH Council Chairman, Prince Lateef Fagbemi SAN assured the students during a live radio interactive program, that the suspension placed on SUG would be lifted after certain conditions are met.
The promise by both Rector and Council Chairman has eventually been fulfilled. Immediately the news was broke to students, there have been jubilating galore and they can no longer wait to see the union functioning in the campus again.
Speaking with the Dean, Student Affairs, TPL R.O. Balogun noted that immediately the ban was lifted by management, student committee comprises of representatives from each schools in the College was formed to review SUG constitution, the review has been completed and submitted to management and it has been approved.
