The deficiency in man

Luke18:1
And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

Our text today is quite intriguing. It tells us of the in-built deficiency in man.
It makes it clear "...that men OUGHT always to pray..."
Notice it says 'ought always'. Not just ought to pray BUT 'ought always' to pray.
It means that one duty men are to do without fail, is prayer. Man is built and wired in a way that he must pray. He is endangered if he doesn't pray.
He is designed by God in a way that he NEEDS to pray.

Our text says: "...men ought always to pray and not to faint."
It means that if a man does not pray, he will faint.
The word faint comes from the Greek word that means: to give up, cave in or quit. It means to be so discouraged in life that one quits or gives up.

You see, life comes with many challenges but we conquer them all in our place of prayer.
Prayer is a necessity in the life of men.

It is obvious that if a man does not pray, he will give up on life, on his dreams, on his calling or the things that he ought to be doing. Prayer is a vital, daily exercise for men.

This writer knows from experience what the Master is saying here.
Without consistent daily prayer, one doesn't stand a chance.
The resistance of hell is real. The antagonisms of men are real, the misunderstanding and misrepresentations of men are real. How can one ward through all of these and come out on top in life? The answer is prayer.

Recall that the Master said, "...OUGHT ALWAYS to pray..." Don't forget the always.
In James 5:14, he said, if you are misunderstood and ill treated, you are to pray.

Prayer remains man's mandatory and daily occupation or he will faint, give up and quit in life.

If a man is still trudging on despite the hard knocks of life or the great success of life, it is because he is praying.

In life, both failures and successes are equally dangerous.

Today, make a new commitment to prayer.

For men OUGHT ALWAYS to pray and not to faint. Alleluia!

To the very ends of the earth.
