Hence the saying: If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.

Take the Mindset Assessment to Learn More About Your Mindset
What's My Mindset? Our mindsets exist on a continuum from fixed to growth, and although we’d like to always have a growth mindset, the reality is that we can only be on a journey to a growth mindset. The goal is to recognize fixed mindset elements in ourselves and then reflect on feedback and strategies for how to i...
The Innovative Mindset - The mindset that operates ahead of disruptions- Voracious learning and improving mindset.
Carol Dweck(opens in a new tab) is often credited with popularizing the distinction between a “fixed” and “growth” mindset in her book Mindset.
According to Dweck, a fixed mindset, as the name suggests, is an approach whereby the organizational traits are fixed, such as abilities, talent, and intelligence. A growth mindset, on the other hand, is about fostering development through perseverance and practice. These mindsets are not mutually exclusive; people, and entire organizations, can work together to move from one state to the other.
The innovative mindset is an extension of Dweck’s line of thinking, where the fluidity across the fixed and growth mindsets fosters a new way of being, thinking, and doing in organizations.
An innovative mindset places innovation at the heart of the organizational practice and personality.
In organizations with an innovative mindset, leadership is constantly looking for new ways of being and doing, and due to this, the need for change management doesn’t arise.
Change and growth are continuing conditions as part of a flourishing innovation mindset in organizations.
In organizations with an innovative mindset, self-starting actions such as long-term thinking and persistence distinguish their business from competitors. These organizations also embrace creativity and enhance both individuality and team development.
Dweck warns of the dangers of praising intelligence as it puts children in a fixed mindset, and they will not want to be challenged because they will not want to look stupid or make a mistake. She notes, "Praising children's intelligence harms motivation and it harms performance."[15] She advises, "If parents want to give their children a gift, the best thing they can do is to teach their children to love challenges, be intrigued by mistakes, enjoy effort, and keep on learning. That way, their children don't have to be slaves of praise. They will have a lifelong way to build and repair their own confidence."[16]

As explained by Dweck, a growth mindset is not just about effort. Dweck has written that a common misunderstanding is that the growth mindset is "just about effort". She states, "The growth mindset was intended to help close achievement gaps, not hide them. It is about telling the truth about a student's current achievement and then, together, doing something about it, helping him or her become smarter."[14]

According to Dweck, individuals may not necessarily be aware of their own mindset, but according to Dweck, their mindset can still be discerned based on their behavior, being especially evident in their reaction to failure.[citation needed] Dweck has described fixed-mindset individuals as dreading failure because it is a negative statement on their basic abilities, while growth mindset individuals don't mind or fear failure as much because they realize their performance can be improved and learning comes from failure.[citation needed] According to Dweck, these two mindsets play an important role in all aspects of a person's life; she argues that the growth mindset allows a person to live a less stressful and more successful life.[citation needed]

In a fixed mindset students believe their basic abilities, their intelligence, their talents, are just fixed traits. They have a certain amount and that's that, and then their goal becomes to look smart all the time and never look dumb. In a growth mindset students understand that their talents and abilities can be developed through effort, good teaching and persistence. They don't necessarily think everyone's the same or anyone can be Einstein, but they believe everyone can get smarter if they work at it.

Rewards and Responsibilities are 5 and 6.
Rewards & Responsibilities in our local parlance are 5 and 6.
Reward, when it is normal, is momentary and at a transitional point of a trajectory.
Feelings of achievement or punitive measures solemnize rewards. Rewards point to the past and when over-pampered become weights and clogs in the Wheel of progress. Over-celebrated rewards is another word for Pride. When one dwells for tooling on the past, it becomes a drag.
Responsibility culminates into reward and this is a window of transition for deeper engagement and further show of Responsibility is expected.
For a baby to be delivered from pregnancy, both the Baby and the Mother have crucial critical roles. The failure of either to play these crucial roles always puts more responsibility on the medical team at delivery.
We call the reward of a responsible fetus and mother Normal Delivery. Afterward, the Baby lives the solitary confinement of the womb and at the very climax of that exit, takes responsibility for oxygen in the blood systems by breathing. The mum after the womb-base caretaking does not go on 3 weeks break but picks up nursing and feeding the newborn from the tender through the very crucial stages where others can join in the caretaking.
What will happen if the mother goes on three weeks' leave, or the baby decides to insist on a belly button supply of food and oxygen???? We all know the obvious reward.
We can see that Rewards sometimes are so momentary that it seems very unnoticeable but Responsibilities are too tangible to overlook.
We have all watched football matches where a team that just scored a goal, gets beaten two goals down, while in the climax of the euphoria of the goal score just a few minutes back. In the same light, a team that just conceded a goal is most likely to lose further within a few minutes of the loss.
Managing Gratification, Failure, and punitive Measures properly is crucial to Sustainable Success in Life.
I have observed lots of people look forward to retirement and at retirement, they degenerate so rapidly within the first few months that I wondered, what was triggered in their Psyche during retirement, which aggravated the aging process.
A lot of people, a few months into retirement become financially handicapped as most of their savings and benefits become consumed by depression and its bandwagon.
To live Long and Well, we must keep Discovering our Next Responsibilities and Consciously Playing Down On Gratifications, Failures, and Consequences Of Previous Acts Of Irresponsibility.
At retirement, one can pick up an advisory role, teaching, mentoring, or writing roles among many others like sales of goods and services, farming, and sporting classes retirees for example how to stay fit and open a gym.
For young ones without a job, volunteer somewhere, choose within 30-60mins walking distance from where you reside; you will definitely find someone that needs an extra hand. Pick up soft skills while waiting and volunteer to gain mastery of use; that will come in handy in your next employment.
Above all, avoid all illegality; they are the biggest subtle killers of the creative potential of the mind. Can you imagine doing three times more to commit a crime?

IF you were paid N100,000.00 as an entry-level graduate in 2013 and today 2023, you are paid N450,000.00 as a Snr Manager, the number is 450% higher but the purchasing power is the same. You may not do more today than you could do 10years ago, with the money because time value of money has impacted the figure.
A bag of rice in 2013 was N12,000.00. Now in 2023, the same 50kg bag is N55,000.00. The same 8 bags you can buy then, you will buy now unfortunately. There may be some other things that inflation failed to impact that much like Garri, because, we are full control of the production line but rice is still majorly imported as well as many things that are very essential to our daily lifestyles.
The only way to get our money value back is to massively produce the quality version of what we consume and give the imported ones THE CHASE OFF our dining tables.
Well, that is if we truly wants the N450,000.00 to gain back the power to buy at least 30bags as against 8bags it's doing today.

Understanding the Time Value of Money (TVM)
Investors prefer to receive money today rather than the same amount of money in the future because a sum of money, once invested, grows over time. For example, money deposited into a savings account earns interest. Over time, the interest is added to the principal, earning more interest. That's the power of compounding interest. https://www.investopedia.com/terms/t/timevalueofmoney.asp

They offered 20% ownership in the business in exchange for $75,000 in funding. Following the rejection of four out of the five sharks, Kevin O'Leary made a counteroffer: no equity, $1.00 every product jar until his $75,000 was reimbursed, and $0.50 per jar forever. In response, O'Leary offered the proprietors $0.45 per jar; the owners accepted his counter offer of $0.40. [5/30, 21:55] Odusina Adewale Hiworks: One of the fastest ways to ensure progress in our lives is by becoming unnecessary for our current position. This happens when we empower our subordinates, employees and such and such who don't know as much as we do to be potentials for our current positions; they are actually our springboards for the next energy level (next level of power and influence) in the cycle of life. When you don't empower people around you, when you have such opportunities, you get stuck unfortunately because, there is no power for the next energy level. Hiworks
[5/30, 22:10] Odusina Adewale Hiworks: This is very common in the education industry, where certain teachers are delighted by the perceived complexity of their coursework content.
However, the true essence or relevance of professionalism is to demystify complex context in a layman parlance. The real job of a teacher is to create a hunger for further knowledge having built a solid foundation from the elementary principles of intended knowledge development. Otherwise, the entire relevance is lost. Hiworks

Fiscal and Monetary Policies' Jargons from a layman's terms
Government regulates the amount of money in circulation....that is outside the banks and reserve. The more money in circulation, the high the possibility of Inflation..that prices of goods and services soar higher, the less money in circulation the lower the possibility if Inflation...do not crucify me; I am an Engineer, not an economist.
In Fiscal Policies, Government use 'weapons' sorry instruments like Taxation, Government projects, Government Expenses, employment to regulate money in circulation.
To increase money in circulation, Government will invest in projects, employ individuals, borrowing from the public, reduce taxation, procure equipment and implement related measures that release money to the market place.
To reduce money in circulation, the opposite of the above shall define the demeanour of Government.
However, monetary policies are Central bank's 'weapons' though it is called instruments for doing the exact same thing that Government does with Fiscal Policies but with interest rate and in recent time in Nigeria we see central bank using change of currencies to regulate money in circulation.
Government and central bank will continue to develop policies for the end goal.
The end goal is to have an effective control of inflation and for the stability of the economy. This is a very critical agenda of Government for attracting foreign investment.
When Government through Bonds borrow from the public, let's say N100 billion for funding budget at 10% interest per annum.
Upon paying back government will pay back N110 billion. The implication is that additional N10 billion is released into the market place or circulation. That is fiscal policy achieving the result of mobilising funds into circulation.
When Government demand for Taxes, that is money being withdrawn from circulation.
When N100billion is borrowed from the banks at 20% interest rates, the implication is that when the loan is repaid additional N20Billion is withdrawn from circulation.
Reduced interest will imply less money from circulation through the banks.Hiworks

Do not be a typical African, that doesn't read..Try to read this article and work out the best of you that is....
Hello everyone and happy new year to all of you.
There is a saying that if we keep doing things the way we have always done them, our results, our productivity, our world will not changed.
Sometimes, we only consider that reality as if it is relating to business, however, it is about everything that makes us human.
We have a mandate from the SOVEREIGN GOD; a decree to be FRUITFUL, TO MULTIPLY, TO REPLENISH AND TO SUBDUE.
Everything we are at birth is seed or potential or energy in passivity.
A lot of people stay in that passivity until they return to their grave; actually whatever you are outside of why you were created is nothing more than INSIGNIFICANT unfortunately.
There is a progressive process in those phrases.
The first thing you're mandated to do is become fruitful.....this means live our your TRUE ESSENCE (1 substance, spirit, lifeblood, heart, principle, soul, core. See synonyms for essence on Thesaurus.com.).
I particularly mentioned TRUE ESSENCE because lots of people are not leaving their true essence but are all what MOSES was before God spoke to him at EIGHTY YEARS or Abraham at 75years and amazingly True essence is what David or Joseph was ALREADY before 17years and and shockingly Samuel, Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego at about 5years.
God wants us to know clearly age is not a barrier as he ordains even babies from the womb as in the case of Jeremiah.
Jeremiah 1 1
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." "Ah, Sovereign LORD," I said, "I do not know how to speak; I am only a child."
Being fruitful is living out your True essences and the platforms are your home, your school, your office, your extended family circle, your neighbourhood, friends circle, your church world, everywhere
