One of the things complementing a woman's dressing is her jewelry....o how I love African-themed jewelry....
Then again l love bags ...I think a lovely bag crowns your dressing ....and with lovely shoes to go with it.....too

I love large tote bags...

So earlier this year ...I began to visualize and put to thoughts, creating bags with African themes.....

The production process was not without hitches....but we were able to create and come up with beautifully crafted tote bags....and had it launched at the 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗿 in October.

Our Tote bags are made 100% from materials sourced locally....It is still a work-in-progress....and it's my desire that our tote bags excites whoever comes across it ....needless to say, we had good reviews regarding them at the 𝗟𝗮𝗴𝗼𝘀 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹.

The first time I was out of the country....one of the things I desperately missed was the Nigerian food.....after the euphoria of travel wore off ....I got tired of meals made from dough ....and desired a proper African Meal....oh what I would give for a hot plate of "Amala" with "ila asepo" or "pounded yam" with "efo riro" with all the "orisirisi" "obstructions".....🥰🥰😍😍😁😁😂😂😂

It was a pleasant surprise when I was able to locate a shop where Nigerian food stuffs were sold....

The rest is history as they say.....I prepared various dishes that my Nigerian host was treated to.....and made them have a feel of Home, again ....even in a foreign land.

Over the next few weeks.....I will be sharing some poetry I came across on a variety of Nigerian Meals....they real do make an interesting read.🥰🥰😍😍😍

When I start a creative work, I really don't know for certain the end results...it really can be very unpredictable ! A lot of factors come to play....and many I don't have under my control. For me the creative journey is an experience....an exciting one at that.. One which I do not take for granted...one, for which I am deeply humbled when I think deeply.

Uncertainty animates our creative actions and sustains our creative work. Uncertainty is a feature of all creative endeavors. We never know for certain how any creative endeavor will turn out. And, even when we have arrived at a creative outcome, uncertainties remain.

I certainly don't have it all figured out....when I start any painting or creative process... how it will turn out....but as an Artist embarking on a creative journey....I look forward to being pleasantly surprised....always....

...is one of my paintings using African motifs and symbols and deploying them in the Batik technique of fabric design.
An interesting creative process....full of uncertainties and surprises. You have to learn to go with the flow. I look forward to engaging in this creative technique ....very soon.

𝗠𝗬 𝗟𝗢𝗩𝗘 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗖𝗢𝗟𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗦.....

I have always loved colours and I have always been comfortable with colours.

Growing up.... bright colors were my favorites and I have always identified good things with beautiful colours . I was always drawn to the colour yellow, red and orange. When I was given a new set of coloured pencils, these colors got exhausted very quickly. My world revolved around these colours and I saw the world in bright colours....for me the colour brown, black, grey never existed

As I matured as an Artist, I began to appreciate these subtle and sombre shades of colours....the color brown began to appeal to me....I love the greens and I discovered the beauty of colour grey and how you can use it to influence other colours.

I love colours. It has always influenced my choices and I am happy that I am comfortable amongst all colours....I have come to appreciate each shade of colour....just like us as humans, we have our strengths and weaknesses ....so do different colors....

I have discovered that the change I want, the opportunities I want begins from the inside. My thought pattern matters. Every thing I have achieved started as a thought.

I am very intentional about what I allow into "my thinking" space. I have discovered that when I have happy thoughts or am in happy state, the more creative I am. So I make it a priority to ensure that I am in a happy place.

The happier I am, the more creative I become. 😁😁😁

Though life will happen, challenges will come, things will definitely not go the way you wish. I have my anchor and His words steer me to "my happy place".

THE 3 TYPES OF PEOPLE IN YOUR LIFE..

1. The Leaf people
2. The Branch people
3. The Root people

LEAF PEOPLE:
These are people who come into your life just for a season. You can't depend on them because they are weak. They only come to take what they want, but if the wind comes they will leave.
You need to be careful of these people because they love you when things are okay, but when the wind comes they will leave you 🥺

BRANCH PEOPLE:
They are strong, but you need to be careful with them too. They break away when life becomes tough and they can't handle too much weight. They may stay with you in some seasons, but they will go when it becomes harder 😢

ROOT PEOPLE: These people are very important because they don't do things to be seen. They are supportive even if you go through a difficult time they will water you and they are not moved by your position they just love you like that ...

It's not all people you meet or are your friends, that will stay with you.
Only the root type of people will stay no matter the season 👏☺️

My very first attempt at using fabric pieces to make art didn't didn't go as planned....

After placing the fabrics together with fabric glue, I felt it was a bit of a mess, it was my first time of working with fabrics and it was sticking incessantly to my fingers... I was walking blindly, I had nothing to guide me...i was clueless, I hadn't done this before...and I was almost discouraged.

I decided to take a pause and go to sleep....
By the time I woke up in the morning, the fabric glue had dried off neatly without leaving patches...going forward, the process began to add up and look good....

I am happy I didn't give up on my very first attempt...since then I have created many more fabric art pieces and still intend to create more.

𝗠𝘆 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲:
Even when things don't go as planned. Find that inner strength not to give up...keep pushing on...it will all fall into place and make sense.

My mother used to cook beans but before she cooked the beans she picked the bad and dirty beans and threw them at our backyard and only cooked the good beans.
But when the rain came the dirty and bad beans became seed and grew up and looked beautiful; interestingly, that same person who threw them away started harvesting them; and she starts to see that the beans she threw away some time ago had value

𝗡𝗼𝘄 𝗹𝗲𝘁 𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂......
😍 Don't cry when people throw you at the backyard;

😍 Don't cry when they reject you;

😍Don't cry while they are looking down at you.

😍Some may see you as a burden;
Some may say you are too dull;

😍Some may say it's because of your past mistakes

𝗗𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗿𝘆.

The rain is coming and the same people who are rejecting you will invite you.

God loves even those that are left out and looked down upon.

God will bless you, just stay connected to Him and everyone will see how valuable you are.

Because your talent is a gift to you from God, does not mean it will not come with it's highs and lows.

Life happens to the best of us...and even through that "gift/talent"

The fact that you are talented does not mean things or life will go easy on you. Infact life deals you heavy blows, but you must not give up....

I refuse to give up ...because irrespective of what life throws at me, I know there's is light at the end of the tunnel. I know this too will pass and I am coming out stronger.

And also, the very thing you love to do, the very thing you are talented at, are what life targets to hurt you, on the other hand it's also what God uses to bless you...and what gives you joy.

I am determined that irrespective of the obstacles I meet, or the heavy let downs, I meet through my journey with Art, am going to focus on the joys, fulfilling times , it has brought me and learn from the let downs....and most importantly keep moving forward....

It will surely end well ...
