_*And Take up the cross*._

*Reasons why we must take up the cross*

- At the cross trespasses is forgiven: trespasses means unlawfully breaking the hedge . The hedge was broken by the Israelite because of their trespasses but the technology that saved them from the venom of the snake was the cross.
- *Record blotted out:* At the cross no past record is being taken . All pass records are blotted out.
- *The Sting is made powerless:* the sting of Satan on the cross is made powerless and ineffective.
- *At the cross the veil was torn:* 2corth4:3,colo2:13-15, the veil that separated man from God was torn down, hence, man has access to God, in same similitude, the mystery behind the word of God was also revealed .

The way we can activate the technology of the cross is by *BELIEVING THE LABOUR OF CHRIST ON THE CROSS* and being conscious of the personality we are calling and the cross. There are so many mystery that surround the cross that has made open spectacle of the devil .1cor12:55-57

*Satan Effort to Defeat the cross*

Matthew 28:11-15, The agenda of the devil is to make the pow’r of resurrection futile , and to make the message of the cross not to be heard at all , but Glory be to God because he gave christ total victory .

*The power of the cross*

1cor1:17, For us the message of the cross is the power of God. The foolish and the son of prediction will never understand.

The activation of the cross is power and wisdom to us.

*The dead man*

When Jesus carried the cross , he was telling us that he was done with the activities of this world and he was going to be crucified. Anyone who carries the cross or is associated with the cross is a dead man Gal5:24. Those who belong to Jesus are dead to affairs , passion, desires and pleasure of the world. Gal 6:14, it was through the cross man became new ,romans10:3.

*I am crucified with Christ*

Being crucified with Christ means nailing your passion, ambition, pleasure, interest and desire to the cross.

Luke 9:23
And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me

Why the cross?
In the Roman days ,the cross is one of the capital punishment for anyone who has committed a capital offense ,is punish or killed by the cross. Any one who is hung on the cross is cursed and must be buried that day because if his corps' surpassed that day the land will be cursed.

The significance of the cross
Deuteronomy 21:18-23
If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him, will not hearken unto them: Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place; And they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard. And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: so shalt thou put evil away from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.

any one who’s going to be punished must be punished outside of the city : that person will be outside of the protection of God,

ecclesiastical 10:8:
He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaketh an hedge, a serpent shall bite him.

Number 21:5-6
And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread. And the Lord sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.

The children of Israelite rebel against God and God handed them over to the fiery serpent. So when they realize their sins they confess their sin, because of their confession God had compassion on them and told Moses to make a bronze and hung it up so As long as they are looking at the bronze, they will live and the venom of the snake will not have effect on them.
so this is the mystery of the cross.

Anyone that look up to the cross of Jesus Christ in respective of their sin , will not die and the venom of the sin will not have any effect on such person . The antidote to sin is your belief in Jesus.

Psalm 91:1-3, as long as you have not break the hedge , you will abide in the secret place of the most high. You will enjoy the protection of God.

If you break the hedge , God will permit the devil to deal with such a fellow.

Look unto the man that was lifted up for our healing, Forgiveness and redemption.

Luke 9:23
And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

Everyone is called to follow Christ 1peter2:21, and to this calling no one is exempted , but it’s not everyone that’s actually following Jesus.
John5:39, Majority go to the scripture thinking they will have eternal life but they refused to accept Jesus which the scripture testified about.

Following Jesus is not about carrying Bible , it’s about forgoing the things of the world and working in the footprint of Christ, leaving all the pleasure of the world.

*Why must we follow him?*

Because he’s the way ,the truth and the life john14:6,many will be disappointed when the trumpet sound because they fail to follow Jesus.
- *he’s the way* : the only way to the father is through Jesus,he’s the only channel .John 1:4.so following him will give us the access to see the God
- ⁠*he’s the truth*: if we want the truth to be reviewed to us , we must follow him because he’s the embodiment of truth .
- ⁠*he’s the life*: he’s the life which illuminate men, what make us the light of the world is the life of Christ in us , so if you want to be the light of the world follow him. you can’t become a light through the standard of this world, it’s the life of Christ that transform us into light, so the more we follow him, the more we shine brighter and brighter.
- *eph4:11-13* : for us to have the full measure of the statue of Christ (maturity)

*How do we follow*

- we need to adopt the mindset of Christ. Philippians2:5-7.by being humble ,not sharing the glory of God and rendering service to humanity
- ⁠we must learn how to behold his glory of :2corth3:18
- ⁠we need to walk in the spirit: gal5:16 we must always walk in the spirit so that we will not fulfill the flesh , the Holy Spirit will help us to increase our capacity .
- ⁠don’t grieve him : don’t grieve the Holy Spirit eph4:30, when the Holy Spirit instruct you and you didn’t follow his instructions then you are grieving him
- ⁠follow the guidelines of his genuine followers.
