Tearing the things we call dear and giving us the truly dear things.

The only thing necessary is wisdom.

Wisdom to know when it is the Lord and when it isn't the Lord.

The devil tears to KILL, God tears to FIX.

God tears the old to give you the new.

God's tearing fire only refines His own.

God's tearing approaches only yields the peaceable fruit of Righteousness.

So in reality,

He only makes.

THE ORIGIN OF LAGOS

When Nigeria was governed on the basis of tribe Northern (Hausa), Western (Yoruba) and Eastern (lgbo) regions and the colonial Lagos older than Nigeria itself was being claimed as a part of the Yoruba Westem region, by virtue of its location and Yoruba origin with reference to its Benin (Edo) royalty as far back as late 17th century and the American and Caribbean ongins of the descendants of the Ologbowo and the Popo Aguda (Brazilian) returnees of the 1840s. of course, original Lagosians of the time challenged the Lagos belongs the West theory; successfully proved the independence of the old Lagos (gede be L' eko wa) not only
stopped the attempt to merge Lagos with Westem Nigena but also got Lagos State as one of the first twelve states of Nigeria created in 1967

Since 1967, cosmopolitan Lagos has moved from being the capital of Nigeria to a mega city of excellence which now sets the pace of political, social and economical development more than it has ever done in the past. This is because, the ongin of Lagos has been influenced by mot only the (Idejo) chieftaincy, the Benin (Edo) Oba Ado royalty, the civilized and educated Saro (Olowogbowo) and Brazilian (Popo Aguda) returnees of the 1840s, the Tapa (Bida/Nupe), the Black Americans and the Caribbean (artisans of the early 19" century Lagos). These lots constitutes the force that built up Original Lagos (Eko Akoko) before the cessation of the colony of Lagos to the British crown in 1861, long before the creation of the British protectorate of Nigeria in 1914.

The original Lagosians established family compounds and business centres as far back as early 17th century, e.g Iga Aromire, Iga Iduganran, and the agboles (compounds) of the four original settlements Isale Eko, Olowogbowo, Oko Faji and Popo Aguda. These settlements of Lafiaji/lkoyi, Ebute Meta/Yaba were added during the colonial days.

By virtue of the above stated, original Lagos (Eko Akoko) produced Nigeria’s first modern day professionals such as lawyer Sapara-Williams (1880), Doctor J. K. Randle, Engineer Herbert Macaulay, Journalist Kitoyi Ajasa, Chartered Accountant Akintola Williams e.t.c all of them from the early Olowogbowo settlements.

In my own opinion, those who fabricate the very recent theory that Oba Ashipa was a Yoruba from lsheri instead of a Benin Prince from the Oba of Benin (Edo State) were mischievously, politically motivated to historically confirm the story of politicians of the 1940s who claim that Lagos belongs to the West; Yoruba/West of the regional Nigeria. The then Lagos politicians of the Action group Party controlled Western Nigeria went as far as to claim that some well known families of Lagos originated from Oyo, Ekiti, Ijebu, Egba, ljesha etc. in order to qualify them for membership of the Western Nigeria house of assemble or the Nigerian senate needless to say some got their fingers burnt when they were challenged by indigenes of the cities claimed in the 1940s.

It is very ridiculous to hear some academic historians challenge the historical Igbe songs of our innocent ancient Oloris (wives) of the Royal Houses just to please their political masters. Their types have been earlier exposed by the scriptures.

May I however conclude this piece, by reference to the fact that ‘facts are sacred while falsehoods are Satanic and Perishable’.

As a direct descendant of Oba Akinsemoyin of Lagos, I feel obliged to write this piece on original Lagos (Eko Akoko) in order to confirm the history of Royalty in Lagos

SOME AXIOMATIC SAYINGS IN YORUBA LAND AND HOW THEY METARMOPHOSED*

*‘’ORI E GIGUN BI POSI ADELABU’’*

This vituperative saying is applied to people with long head, they are said to have a similar facet to adelabu.

I could remember when i was growing up in my Lafayette, when this particular saying was used as a caricature and cognomen to people with long head. why are some people fond of this ridiculous saying? and how does this saying metamorphosed?. In 1958, sir Adegoke gbadamosi adelabu penkelemesi who was referred to as lion of the west gave up the ghost in an accident after he encounters some political upheavals in the western region of Nigeria[Ibadan precisely]. during his burial, sir mbadiwe of the NCNC presented the family of sir adelabu a unique long expensive coffin.

This coffin was long to the extent that the people present were surprised and begin to spread the news after they left the burial. Thus, giving birth to the description of long head as posi adelabu. He was also known for other thing like the penkelemesi textile introduced by his Yunnan friend that later became the cynosure of all eye in all the western region of Nigeria. Pluribus Unum, this belong to the axiomatic saying that people think it is rootless

*‘’GUDU GUDU MEJE YAYA MEFA’’*

A group of Yoruba chiefs went en masse from Ibadan to give an account of their governance to a British district commissioner. In the course of giving the account to the white man, he was impressed and he showed this by nodding and said ‘good’ seven times and ‘yeah’ six times simultaneously. When this emissary got home they told their people that ‘’oyibo se gudu gudu meje yaya mefa’’ i. e the Whiteman did seven ‘good’ and six ‘yeah’.

Singers, comedians among others always make use of this name anytime they perform. ‘’Alajo somolu’’ means somolu thrift collector. Before the advent of fintechs and banks, people entrusted their savings with thrift collectors.

A lot of car owners don’t have an idea what this is . The car catalyst popularly known as Indomie found in the exhaust is one of the stuffs mechanics and panel be**ers remove from people’s car within the slightest blink , which makes your car consume a lot of fuel and have terrible sound and unfavorable emission discharge . They are stolen because they Contain precious metals such as platinum and Rhodium .

I recently gave this panel be**er a direct Belgium car to fix the exhaust at arrival which i felt was leaking maybe due to the potholes from Lagos down to Abuja, after about 3 hours of waiting, the guy told me he was going to a nearby electric welding machine to fix it , since this were people I had known for awhile , I felt comfortable.

I kept calling , Panel be**er said he was trying to ensure the work was done perfectly. Finally he came Back , I still realized the sound of my car was not as smooth as it should be , I complained , “ ah oga , naso the sound Dey be for this kind car “ he replied . I was still sure the sound was not good enough .

2 days latter , one of his colleagues who I was nice to stopped me as he entered my car and asked , OGA , you know say those boys comot your Indomie? They chock nets inside so that u no go know . with an assurance I said yes ,

they sold it 100k. I promised him I would keep his identity confidential but I must get to the root of my property. Guess what ? Once this Indomie is removed , it can’t be used anymore .

I swung into action and reported the case to the law enforcement agency that took this matter seriously and arrested the culprits , at this point , for me it was heart breaking to see young men handcuffed and embarrassed due to their greed ,but all I needed was a direct Belgium Indomie as replacement.

in less than 48hrs , I was called , the entire fellow mechanics ran up and down to raise 180,000 which is the cost of another one. I got my Indomie back . Guess what ? This was the second time this guys were removing my indomie , they did it December on a different car , but I was not sure at what point it was stolen .

As a Good Samaritan , I pleaded the release of ogas as they might have learnt their lesson the hard way . Thank you to Inspector Sanusi, Inspector Joesph and the DPO for doing well.
