The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has made good its threat to take legal action against governors and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, over their alleged failure to account for N5.9 trillion and $4.6 billion loans obtained by their states and the FCT.It said the suit was also as a result of failure to publish copies of the loan agreements, including details and locations of projects executed with the loans.In the suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/592/2024 filed last Friday at the Federal High Court, Abuja, SERAP is seeking an order of court to direct and compel the governors and Wike to account for the monies.

The court judge, Richard Jones said Zhao, whose nickname is CZ, has also satisfied the requirement of him to pay $50 million in fines.

The judge also won’t impose five months of probation as was recommended by the probation officer.

Federal Capital Territory High Court on Monday slammed N10 million fine on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and three others for fundamental rights violation.

Other respondents in the suit are former EFCC boss, Abdulrasheed Bawa, an officer with the agency, Calistus, and Fidelity Bank Plc.

Justice Peter Kekemeke slammed the cost on the respondents when he delivered judgment in a suit filed by Mr Michael Kundera for enforcement of his fundamental rights.
