IBOM AUTISM CAMPAIGN 2024!
I couldn't control the tears as it streamed down my face and even if I dared to I couldn't muster enough strength to.
The man was hurling all forms of accusations at his wife and throughout this onslaught by the visibly enraged man and his supportive relatives, her head remained bowed and tears dropped on the child that sat on her laps.
He looked at the wife and said " you will only return to my house after you have been cleansed and every sacrifice completed to remove the curse from your family.
The priest said this child is as a punishment for an evil in your family, that is why you birthed him.
I tried explaining to no avail that Autism is not a Curse, it is not a PUNISHMENT for generational sins, it is not a Disease, neither is the child a reincanation of a wandering evil relative.
Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder.
Kids with Autism are not Evil spirits,
They should be loved.
Families with kids with Autism are not Cursed
They should be accepted.
We make a BOLD STATEMENT as we launch IBOM AUTISM AWARENESS CAMPAIGN 2024
D'Griots Child's Outreach Celebrates World Autism Awareness Day
At D'Griots Child's Outreach, we believe in celebrating the unique strengths and perspectives of every child. Today, as we observe World Autism Awareness Day, we reaffirm our commitment to creating an inclusive and nurturing environment for children on the autism spectrum.
Autism is a complex neurological condition that affects how individuals perceive and interact with the world around them. While it presents challenges, it also brings a rich diversity of experiences, talents, and ways of thinking that enrich our community.
Through our specialized programs and activities, we strive to empower children with autism, fostering their growth, independence, and self-confidence. Our dedicated team of professionals and volunteers work tirelessly to understand each child's individual needs and provide tailored support, whether it's through educational resources, sensory-friendly spaces, or social skills development.
We recognize that autism is a journey, and we are honored to walk alongside these remarkable children and their families, offering guidance, encouragement, and a safe space to explore their full potential.
On this World Autism Awareness Day, we celebrate the remarkable individuals who inspire us daily with their resilience, creativity, and unique perspectives. We also extend our gratitude to the families, caregivers, and advocates who tirelessly champion the rights and inclusion of individuals on the autism spectrum.
Together, we can create a world that embraces neurodiversity, where every child feels valued, understood, and supported in their pursuit of happiness and fulfillment.

As parents, we want to protect and guide our children through every stage of life. However, there comes a time when we must accept that our little ones are blossoming into independent young people, developing their own wisdom influenced by the world around them.
It can be challenging to loosen the reins and trust that the values and lessons we've imparted will stick as our children encounter diverse perspectives and experiences outside the home. The forces of friends, social media, teachers, and popular culture all shape their thinking in ways we can't always control.
Yet this is a vital part of the journey towards adulthood. By letting our children spread their wings and gain wisdom through external influences, we allow them to truly find their voice and sense of self. The awkward stumbles and thought-provoking debates are all steps towards cultivating critical thinking and developing into well-rounded individuals.
As difficult as it may feel at times, our role is to be a steady, supportive presence - offering advice when asked, but respecting the insights they've culled from their own experiences. With open hearts and minds, we can celebrate their growth and be proud of the wise, independent adults they become through life's multitude of teachers.
A LESSON FROM A TRENDING VIDEO!
Here's a trending video which has triggered uncensored emotions.
We do not hold nor have copyright to this video but the message here resonates with our mandate as a child-friendly NGO.
Within the formative stages of children (childhood), the role and presence of a father and mother figure can't be relegated.
In normal circumstances, it is an error for a parent to believe that because he or she pays school fees, houses and cloths a child are evidences of love and parenting.
No...because at the prisons and correctional centres, there many persons housed, fed and clothed by the Government but it isn't DONE OUT OF LOVE.
Being available and registering a physical presence in your child's life especially, during their 'small' milestones mean a whole lot to them.
'What' do you think this pretty girl is looking for?
An appropriate and correct answer will justify that a parent's physical presence in a child's life tops the NEEDS OF A CHILD
Effective strategies for dealing with stubbornness may include:
1. Understanding the underlying cause: Is the child seeking attention, struggling with a particular task, or simply testing boundaries?
2. Remaining calm and avoiding power struggles: Escalating the situation often reinforces the stubborn behavior.
3. Offering choices within limits: Giving children age-appropriate options can help them feel a sense of control while still adhering to reasonable boundaries.
4. Using positive reinforcement: Praising and rewarding cooperative behavior can be more effective than punishing stubbornness.
5. Setting a good example: Children often learn by observing and imitating the behavior of their parents or caregivers.
By encouraging autonomy and addressing stubbornness in a constructive manner, parents and caregivers can foster a healthy balance that supports children's growth and development while maintaining appropriate boundaries and expectations.
LET'S REASON!
Is it possible to find another way around fee drive in our schools?
(c) Ak Kingsley
Autonomy and stubbornness are two related but distinct concepts that often come into play when dealing with children's behavior. While autonomy is a healthy and necessary aspect of child development, stubbornness can be a hindrance if not properly addressed.
Autonomy refers to a child's growing sense of independence, self-awareness, and ability to make choices for themselves. It is an essential part of their psychological and emotional growth, as it fosters self-confidence, decision-making skills, and a sense of control over their lives. Encouraging autonomy in children involves allowing them to make age-appropriate choices, express their opinions, and explore their interests within reasonable boundaries.
On the other hand, stubbornness is a tendency to resist or refuse to comply with requests or instructions, even when they are reasonable or in the child's best interest. It can stem from various factors, such as a desire for control, fear of change, or a lack of understanding of the situation. While some level of stubbornness is normal and expected during certain developmental stages, excessive or persistent stubbornness can lead to power struggles, frustration, and conflicts within the family or social settings.
The key to navigating this balance lies in recognizing the difference between autonomy and stubbornness and responding appropriately. Parents and caregivers should aim to foster autonomy by providing choices, involving children in decision-making processes, and respecting their individuality. At the same time, it is crucial to set clear boundaries and expectations, and to address stubbornness in a calm and consistent manner.

As a Parent, would you advise sending your child to a boarding school so you can focus on work?
Let's Discuss!
LET'S LEARN!

D'Griot Child's Outreach
Every child deserves a childhood filled with love, laughter, and dreams, but sadly, millions around the world are suffering in silence.
If you scroll through the news, you'll see stories of innocent lives being torn apart by conflict, poverty, and exploitation, you can't help but feel a deep sense of despair. These children are not just statistics; they are sons, daughters, brothers, and sisters with hopes and aspirations just like you and me. Yet, their voices often go unheard, drowned out by the chaos and cruelty of the world.
But it doesn't have to be this way. Together, we can make a difference. By supporting organizations dedicated to child welfare, advocating for policies that protect their rights, and spreading awareness, we can give these children the chance they deserve to thrive.
Imagine the joy on a child's face when they receive access to education, healthcare, and a safe environment to grow up in. That's the future we can create if we stand together and take action today. Let's be their voice, their hope, and their reason to believe in a brighter tomorrow.

It is often said that most parents send their children to lessons after school so they can focus on their work/business.
This particular act has made them focus less on their academics thereby depriving them of the luxury of bonding with their children during such moments.
More than 80% of these parents have no idea what's being taught in these schools. They only show up when there's an emergency or money is needed to sort out some issues.
Even though you have no idea about the assignment π...try to be there when they're trying it out.
Your presence tells a lot!
