SUB-THEME: PEOPLE WHO SOUGHT THE PEACE OF THE LAND.
TOPIC: SOLOMON.
TEXT: 1 KINGS 4:24-25.
24 For he ruled over all the kingdoms west of the Euphrates River, from Tiphsah to Gaza, and had peace on all sides.
25 During Solomon's lifetime Judah and Israel, from Dan to Beersheba, lived in safety, everyone under their own vine and under their own fig tree. . Lev 26:5 [Mic 4:4]
TOPIC: SOLOMON.
MESSAGE:
Solomon's reign was a time of great peace and prosperity in israel (v. 25b, micah 4:4). There was neither threat of war from the neighbouring nations nor internal conflict. the population grew robustly, there was political stability and they enjoyed god's abundance (ecclesiastes 2:24; 9:7). solomon in his wisdom maintained a cordial relationship with citizens and people around through daily feastings. he shared his bread with the hungry. no wonder, the people rejoice (cf. isaiah 58:7).
How do you relate with people around you? You are called to live in peace with all men. therefore, sustain peace through benevolence. although temporal things may bring joy and peace, but the greater joy and peace we have as christians is in the holy spirit (romans 14:17).
REFLECTION:
Wisdom guides in seeking the peace of the land.
PRAYER:
lord, endow me with divine wisdom to live peacefully. amen.
