Flo-ti Yoga
Creative and powerful Vinyasa yoga sequences taught by Laura, Certified Yoga Teacher and mobility coach. Find your Flow-state.
Jumping back in your Vinyasa or Sun Salutation can take courage but building confidence and strength to do so may not be as hard as you think💪
Consider the weight distribution in crow pose, bringing your head down as a counterweight to your lower body, sit bones to the sky and that gaze (Drishti) that keeps us focused. Even if you cannot yet hold a Crow, getting into position without lifting off the feet can teach us a lot about jump back.
Placing hands slighty forward, bending your legs to build power, lifting up the sit bones, pushing into the mat with all fingers and thumbs and engaging your scapular to work all the way through the kinetic chain.
Working with the breath, drop your head, think of lifting up and back.
It takes a little practice but once youre there, arm balances don't seem as scary or unattainable.
Slow the whole process down and you're on your way to pressing into handstands.

It's been nearly a week since we returned from the Corn Islands. I was craving a break from the usual routine, to re-focus and be in stillness. This stunning oasis provided everything I hoped- A beautiful Caribbean Island getaway. Full of freshness and colour, an all together uplifting experience.
Little corn has no power between the hours of 6am and 1pm meaning for half a day everyday, I was disconnected to the outside world and all the distractions that brings. I awoke to the sound of waves, stretched and swam. I swapped my phone for a good book and my laptop for people watching.
Trying to continue habits I learned on little corn now that I'm back in the Laguna. Trying to balence time working and time working on myself.
Anyway, here's a picture of me trying to balence on a floating palm tree. Because why not 🌴😊
Come join me lakeside in the beautiful Laguna de Apoyo, Nicaragua. Creative and strong flows designed to bring balance to the body and mind. Unlock secrets of the breath, learning tools to help you keep calm both on and off the mat.

As a Yoga teacher, why did I learn to become a mobility coach? 🤸
Even though a lot of historical yoga texts were estonishingly accurate, we understand so much more about the anatomy of our bodies now compared to when yogis began teaching asanas thousands of ago. I believe its a top priority for teachers to gain an understanding of body mechanics alongside safe sequencing. To know how far to push and to spot when a student can potentially injure themselves. I learnt a lot during my teacher training but I really wanted to geek out and learn more!
I also understand that people can be goal driven and I wanted to be able to provide insight into why restrictions and imbalances maybe the reason why they haven't yet achieved their goals.
I have learnt how to identify weaknesses, tightness and irregularities and create plans to open up or strengthen muscles and joints to correct these restrictions. Also identifying postural issues that can be causing pain and discomfort on and off of the mat.
I have gained a greater understanding of how our joints work and my wish is to help my students get the most our of their bodies.
I can curate personal mobility plans by firstly performing a series of mobility and postural tests. Running a joint through all ranges of motion to see where needs work.
In my yoga classes, I often throw in a few mobility drills and fascial releases during our warm up to prepare. Especially if we are attempting a strenuous peak pose.
Mobility work is becoming more popular and it's easy to see why.
Here at Flo-ti, I believe in building flexible, mobile, stable and strong bodies and minds 💪

Scanning. Body, Mind and Soul ❣
Before class begins, take a quick snapshot of how you're feeling-both in mind and body.
How am I today? What do I need ?
These questions provide an intention to your daily practice and an opportunity to build greater body awareness. Connecting on a more spiritual and mindful level can feel challenging for some. But, I promise, the more you practice with heart the more you will benefit in mind.
Try asking yourself these things the next time you find yourself on the mat...
-How does your body feel in each position?
-Where do you feel sticky or stiff?
-What emotions arrive when you're switching between asanas?
Take a look at my next post to get a snapshot into how I'm really feeling this week...

Introducing Flo-ti's new look!
The last logo was designed by myself and although I gave it a good go, having it re-made by a professional was something I felt needed to happen. So here she is!
The last emblem also showed a womans silhouette in Dancers pose. This posture is stunning but I felt having this asana as the face of the buisness, may give people the idea that they need to be able to achieve these postures in order to take my classes. This seated pose is accessible for everyone, just like my flows✌
I'm so happy to see my vision come to life. Refined, clean and encapsulating the energy of Flo-ti Yoga.
On to the next chapter 💛
"Reach your arms up towards the sky..." - Your Yoga Teacher
Not only does this cue sound ethereal in yoga flows, reaching overhead has numerous benefits for your body. Improves your shoulder mobility & flexibility. Helps release and realign your upper body, correcting rounding of the thoracic spine and even opens up the chest which aids efforts to increase lung capacity.
So, take the occasional break from your desk-job slump to reach for the skies!
