1 september is altijd een bijzondere dag want het is onze wedding anniversary vandaag 💍💞🥂 Nadat ik eerder al met veel plezier odes voor mijn kinderen & ouders heb gemaakt 🎹🤍🖤, ben ik heel blij vandaag een nieuwe pianotrack uit te mogen brengen en op te kunnen dragen aan mijn bestie/wifey herself Edsilia Rombley❤️'Song for Edsilia' is vanaf vandaag overal te beluisteren 🎧🔊

‘I’ve been composing this at home. Every time I practised it my dear love Edsilia responded very fondly. She really feels this composition for its romance. So I definitely have to tribute this one to her. Edsilia has enriched my life on so many levels. I have long been wanting to honour her with a piano song and this feels like the most fitting dedication to our infinitly beautiful and unconditional union. That it has been released on our wedding anniversary makes it even more special ❤️’

124 dagen geleden op 9 april werd mijn vader een “vlammetje in de zon“. Zo noemde en legde hij het vroeger altijd uit aan mij en mijn zus Trijntje Oosterhuis als er iemand was overleden. Er gaat geen dag voorbij dat ik wakker word en in slaap val met de dankbare gedachten aan hem- maar ondertussen is het gemis groot🙏🏼 De warmte van de vlammetjes in de zon maken het dat hij deze vakantie elke dag heel dichtbij voelt 🌞❤️

‘This song is for everyone who is missing someone close. It was written in a period when I knew I was going to lose my dad. The melody brings me back to the roots of my fathers liturgical songs, where the choir performances inspired and fed me so much. Now that he is gone, my personal loss and missing my father give it a deep nostalgic feeling.’

The story behind the song ✍️:
“While composing this piece, I imagined people that had been reconnected since a long time. And I felt the euphoria that a beautiful reunion can bring. It may range from my personal revaluation of piano playing to a family struck by being in refuge or war and getting again after a long time. A reconnection like that can give intense feelings of joy and relieve, filled with great memories and nostalgia.”

Today is World Piano Day 2023 🎹❤️ To celebrate, Andante Piano created a special program for their 24/7 livestream where their artists showcase their music and their favorite pieces of the andante catalogue. I am honoured to be a part of this program along with all the other great andante pianists. My piano hour is from 17:00 till 18:00 (CET), during that time my music will be played along with other piano pieces that I think are beautiful.

''I like nothing more than waking up to the sound of birds chirping outside in the morning. Sometimes you’ll even wake up way too early, but the comfort and peace of their sounds will easily make you sleep some more. And the fact that they are there, flying around free and easy, makes me feel we are in the right place. It is the most natural sound around to start the day. The tweedling of birds is totally organic and it regularly reminds me of the characteristic mechanical sounds of my piano.''
