Better defaults, improved support for cloakify bug fixes and more... https://dyne.org/tomb 💀 Search engine is upgraded to use recoll, based on xapian backend: offers a GUI and is more up to date, replaces swish-e. 💀 Various fixes include a better default of 3 rounds for Argon2 KDF, improved support for cloakify which is now shipped in tomb/extras 💀 New support for pinentry-tty useful for some headless systems and terminals over serial port 💀 improved usage on machines without sudo and support bind-hooks on folders containing spaces in their names. 💀 Translations to some languages were improved. #frei0r is the most extensive collection of FOSS video plugins made to share video effect inventions & knowledge on how to develop them. A preservation project, keeping our collection alive & interoperable so everyone can run it into any application. 🔗 https://frei0r.dyne.org Between 2003-2005 a group of people gathered at piksel.no in Bergen & tried to agree on a standard plugin specification to share code among video projects. The #Gephex team pushed forward a simple “header-only” approach which they dubbed #Freiør, as a homage to our Scandinavian hosts. Gephex being German & “free” in their language is spelt “Frei”: add a Viking touch to it and there we go. Frei, or? Through the years, valuable contributions to frei0r have kept coming, and frei0r has kept growing its plugin collection up to almost 150 plugins, thanks to many contributors. Today, frei0r can be found in many places. A search on youtube yields some funny results. The wave of the social-video boom (tiktok etc.) may be multiplying its presence across some funky software applications that will hopefully keep being #FOSS Perhaps the first and best video made with #frei0r was the one made with LiVES by Salsaman? Recently Internet artist Marko Deinterlace also put some sound on it. That is what you see in this reel. frei0r is already pretty much everywhere since Stefano Sabatini built support to use our plugins from #FFMPEG which is the most used media library in the world. 🛟 GPP - Global Passport Project is lead by Kosmopolis, an NGO based in Naples specializing in participatory democracy processes, particularly among migrants communities. Kosmopolis created the Global Passport Project (GPP), a platform that leverages on decentralized technologies such as Blockchain and distributed storage, to protect and promote human rights and global citizenship in the domain of migration. What GPP proposes is a Website and a Mobile App through which migrants can safely store and share data and documents necessary on their perilous journey. It grants access to relevant information about the country they arrive or cross and info on how to get support from, communicate directly with civil society organizations and/or report abuse or violations. Organizations in the domain of migration can be listed on an interactive map. This helps migrants find and communicate with the orgs and services they need based on where they are. The App also allows migrants to be the narrator of their own story. Kosmopolis selects, edits, publishes, and disseminates citizen journalism products directly created by the users of GPP. The information submitted by Migrants to the platform is encrypted to prevent its use for illegal purposes. A blockchain and IPFS guarantee that the data are not stored on the servers of multinationals or government organizations. Making user’s sensitive data censorship-proof, perennial & compliant with GDPR. But this adds complexity to the project, hence Zenroom enters the chat. The app needs to be operated by organizations with a very small technical capital and process complex cryptographic operation to issue private keys and temporary access tokens. The backing up of private keys by service providers is discouraged by security experts and Dyne. Keypairoom enables deterministic creation of private keys using user answers to specific questions.
