Faculty Magazine of Spatial Sciences The Girugten has been the Faculty Magazine of Spatial Sciences in Groningen since 1971. Hence the name 'Girugten'.

In the early years, when the Girugten had to be printed on duplicating machines, the magazine was aimed at informing students and teachers at the Geographical Institute. The magazine appeared about six times a year in the 1970s and provided information about sub-faculty council meetings, exam dates, lectures, book lists, staff changes, lectures, library acquisitions and excursions.
