On May 1st, our Ambassador Remco van Wijngaarden welcomed the 10-day summer course "Amphibious Transformation by Design'' as part of our Orange Green Days initiative. This course brings together students from Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT) in Thailand and Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) in Indonesia to explore the challenges of the water issue in regional, metropolitan and urban environments in relation to climate change.

The Netherlands is proud to collaborate with various countries, sharing knowledge and expertise in water management. Many thanks to all partners, including Dutch expertise from TUDelft, IHE Delft Institute for Water Education, and Waterstudio for their invaluable support in making this summer course possible.

We recently had a productive meeting with our team in , where we discussed the progress of our in . The enthusiasm is there, especially as we shift our focus towards creating a lively, interconnected neighborhood.

Our global team’s commitment is very inspiring. We’ve exchanged ideas and outlined steps to transform our City App into a dynamic community platform. Our current emphasis is on developing a ‘floating neighborhood,’ utilizing technology to enhance resident interactions.

The integration of modern innovation with traditional practices signals the beginning of a more sustainable and adaptable future for 's floodplains.
initiated its applied research project on over a decade ago to address challenges in areas. City Apps combine standardized systems with locally available materials and craftsmanship. These innovative solutions encompass a variety of functions, including sanitation, healthcare, energy production, community workspaces, and other essential facilities. City Apps aim to provide adaptable and sustainable infrastructure to effectively meet the needs of communities in these regions.
At in Bihar, and with its founder, , Waterstudio has found a valuable local partner to expand the City Apps project into , marking the initial steps in aiding the people of this flood-affected region to construct a brighter future.
The prototype developed in this project represents the first step towards the realization of the City App vision for adaptive development on floodplains, with the ultimate goal of scaling up to thousands of locally built standardized floating units.
Following the testing phase, a comprehensive study will be conducted to measure the broader impacts of this groundbreaking project.
The data and insights gathered will form the basis for the development of long-term strategies for sustainable floodplain management.
