Together with USP, we have developed and validated ion chromatography (IC) as a viable alternative method to atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) and flame photometry for the analysis of potassium.

Compared to other potassium analysis methods, ion chromatography has the advantage of analyzing multiple cationic species concurrently.

In lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), lithium hexafluorophosphate, the main conductive salt, tends to decompose at elevated temperatures, or it can react with traces of water to form toxic HF.

This is why lithium borate salts or imide-based lithium salts are used as additives to the electrolyte to improve its performance.

On this day in 1829, Humphry Davy died.

A prolific scientist and inventor, Davy used electricity to isolate several elements for the first time, e.g., potassium, sodium, calcium, strontium, barium, magnesium, and boron. And as if that was not enough, he also discovered the elemental nature of chlorine and iodine.

MIRA XTR in flight! 🛫

Imagine a scenario in which a suspicious object is attached to the outside of a building or under a bridge. Now such an object can be inspected with a drone! A new drone-based system from the Spiez laboratory (nuclear, biological, chemical, and explosive ordnance disposal and mine clearance) was demonstrated to the experts from the NBC-KAMIR Competence Centre in February 2023.
