Ever wondered what goes into preparing for a race?

Our team collaborates closely with , gaining hands-on experience in sail making. Whenever we need a change or repair, a dedicated group from our team heads to the North Sails loft. There, we work on preparing our sails while learning from the best in the business.

This weekend, we’re excited to compete in the Round the Island Race alongside some of our partners. The sails are ready to go!

Ending the North Sea Regatta with a rainy and challenging day. Shifty winds made it a challenging race day that marked a successful end to the weekend. Shoutout to all volunteers involved in organizing the largest regatta on the North Sea.

A sunny day on the water, starting with a light breeze and a brief wait for more wind before the first race.

We managed to sail three races today. The light conditions demanded full focus from the speed team, but it was a great opportunity to continue what we learned in last week’s light offshore conditions.

Looking forward to tomorrow’s races, with a bit more breeze expected!

🏆 Hans Horrevoets Memorial Trophy

Over the weekend, we raced back to the Netherlands in the RORC North Sea Race, navigating through light winds. We’re thrilled with our victory in the IRC 0 class! 🥇

But what’s even more special to us is receiving the Hans Horrevoets Memorial Trophy. This trophy holds a special place as it commemorates the legacy of Hans Horrevoets, a passionate sailor who left us in 2006. Presented by his parents, this trophy celebrates youthful crews who performed well in the two offshore races, the Vuurschepen Race and the North Sea Race. It’s about honoring Hans’s spirit and his dedication to nurturing young offshore sailors.

We dedicate this victory to all aspiring sailors chasing their dreams on the open seas.

In the summer of 2025, the Baraka GP Sailing Team and the Rotterdam Offshore Sailing Team will unite under the flag of the royal Maas yacht club to compete in the Admiral’s Cup.

The two carbon yachts by Ker will represent The Netherlands as the ‘Dutch Offshore Sailing Team’ (DOST). With a rich history in the Admiral’s Cup, including the 1999 campaign with Roy Heiner, Bouwe Bekking, Wouter Verbraak, Peter van Niekerk, and Gerd-jan Poortman, we’re privileged to be part of this legacy.

🚨Exciting News! 🚨Premiumropes introduces a new range of ropes called Grand Prix Racing and announces official sponsorship of the Rotterdam Offshore Sailing Team & Ker 46 Van Uden!

We have been following the team and are impressed by the drive of all these talents led by Gerd-Jan Poortman. Even in winter, their preparation and training keeps on going. Among other things, the entire team was recently at Premiumropes for a workshop about ropes and deck hardware.
The team will be sailing with ropes from our new range called Grand Prix Racing.

“As part of our ongoing commitment to support talent and promote sailing, we have joined forces with ROST to help empower their journey to success. At the same time, it offers a great opportunity to introduce our new Grand Prix Racing ropes for high-performance yachts.” Says Jeroen Baggerman Commercial Director of Premiumropes.

About Rotterdam Offshore Sailing Team (ROST)
The team's purpose is to introduce young talent to offshore sailing and compete in various races on the professional racing circuit. The team includes 14 team members.

The boat is a, McConaghy-built, Ker 46 designed by Jason Ker. It's made entirely out of carbon, which makes it very light. It weights only 5.5 tonnes! The Ker 46 is 14 meters long and has a bowsprit of 2.80 meter. The mast, bowsprit and boom are, besides the hull, also made from carbon. Making the boat capable of speeds well above 25 knots.

Friday night, the KR&ZV De Maas (Royal Maas Yacht Club) was filled with sailors, partners, supporters, family, and friends of the Rotterdam Offshore Sailing Team. Reflecting on the past season, the team looked ahead and set a new goal on the horizon, more details coming soon.

As a team, it was an honour to gather all our supporters for an evening, showcasing the hard work of the past year and our aspirations for the future.
