I was wrong! Adonai and Adonai alone! Thank God for His mercy and guidance.

So, I was looking forward to celebrating my first Hannukah. But there won't be a first. I was taking a wrong road in my faith journey, and my spiritual navigation just made it loud and clear!

Hannukah is mentioned once in the Bible. John 10. But my argument of "it's not God given, but Jesus celebrated it" just crashed into pieces. It's not said that Jesus celebrated it. The verses simply state that it was Hannukah and it was winter, and Jesus was there walking around inside the temple area. That's it.

Above that, the weight of this feast being rooted in an apocryphal book that is NOT part of either the Tenakh or Protestant Bible just made the crashing of my thoughts worse. I knew this before, of course, but God just shed a highlight on this! His Words or....?!

Oh man! 🤦🏾‍♀️ I hate it that I've shared a wrong inspiration with you. Please forgive me. This makes me feel like: "Gladys, stop sharing! You might be wrong again." But that's fear talking. My God is faithful and will always lead me in His path and I will always be true to you, my Ladies & Gents of God 🤎

🤔 Hm! Psalm 23:3 (second part) just became true! Last week, I felt like God is taking me through Psalm 23, verse by verse... Hm! I'll write a post about that in the future. I'm observing it all for now...

There's no such thing as a perfect family!
Have you ever met one?

Not even in the Bible, you meet a perfect family. Throughout the whole Bible, we read about imperfect families. When we look around us, all we see are imperfect families. Wait, let me rephrase that: The families that seem perfect, eventually turn out to be imperfect. When you get close enough, you see the flaws and shortcomings.

A dissapointment and discouragement or...? How much of a bad thing is this?

It's especially bad because of all the trauma that can come from this imperfection. Trauma leaves terrible wounds in our souls. Besides that, the imperfection in families can give us ways to see, interpret, and cope with life events that are not (always) helpful.

But, there is a blessing in disguise! 😟

I've learned that imperfection in families provides an opportunity for me to learn to love and to forgive. Not like people do, but like God does. With boundaries and eternal grace. The most difficult thing ever!

Rewriting your story?

The struggle is real when you desire to be another you. Whether it's because you don't like the things you do or how you feel/think about yourself, it's hard to change it all. But there is a secret weapon in this struggle! God, your Creator!

Cliché answer, you might think as a Christian. Maybe you even think "I've been there, done that, doesn't work!". Well, I've thought that, back in the days as a teen and young adult. Until I truly meet God.

👉🏾 He gave me an understanding of why things were how they were. Call it a psychological, family and spiritual analysis.

Trauma's in the family relationships. How they've mold me and changed me. The hold they have on me; actually being a slave to them. Even the spiritual evil doors they've opened. Not fighting only something in the natural.

👉🏾 He made clear that there is a way out based on trusting Him. There was a lot of work to do! Actually an impossible work for a human like me: Rewiring my being. But not impossible for a Creator. Hallelujah!

My part was to commit to the change and go into action. Stay close to Him, understand my mental and emotional state, fight against patterns of thinking and doing, change my social environment and so on.

His part was to do what I can't. Give me new insights about myself and His will for me. Give me hope and a vision of what He has in mind for me. Heal the hurt and the pain in my heart. Help me to forgive others and myself. Give me a new heart desire: the desire to be fully His. And why? Because His love is too good to be true and if it's true, then I can't live without! 🙌🏾
