Light jigheads like the Decoy SV-34 or the Deps Swimming Head in 3.5gr are a great fit with a Deps Sakamata.

During the upcoming months its hard for them to resist something that darts and sinks slow!

Autumn is around the corner, which for Jordy means time for a weightless Deps Sakamata 8”.

For shallow (0-100cm deep) Jordy devised a screw in rig where he nose hooks the bait through the eye of a softbait screw, while fishing weightless. The weight of one 8” Sakamata is 36 gram, perfect to skip and cast!

The Violence Jighead VJ-36 by decoy Japan is the perfect extra wide gap jighead for obstacle and plant-rich waters. Perfect suited to rig softbaits like the Deps Sakamata or a DRT vts 5/cramp shad.

The Deps Balisong is a twitchbait with various functions. This suspending model brings in bites even in low water temperature. On a steady retrieve, it traces a deeper range with a higher-pitch rolling action than the floating model, greatly increasing the strike rate in tough conditions. When twitched or je**ed, the lure produces a unique bumpy sound similar to a shad click, and the variable balancer system creates a sharp, tricky dart that leads slow fish to bite on reaction.

This Pop-x SP-C release from 2004 by Bassday, a Japanese speciality bass lure shop and Megabass features the iconic and reworked LV inspired monogram all over.

There are signs all over that these two baits are inspired by the well known fashion house. But when looking into the history of these beauties with their cryptic names, respectively “BR-T5”, “BR-T9”, not much was to be found. Let alone any traces of obvious inspiration by LV whilst coming up with this colorscheme by Megabass and Bassday JP.

So how this collaboration came about is still a mystery to us till date. Still makes me wonder if there is a link between this LV monogram inspired release, and Supreme’s now infamous LV monogram decks that also released that year (2004)

O.S.P Blitz is a shallow crankbait that can be used to aggressively attack the shallow areas. At first glance, it may look like a normal crankbait, but it is packed with improved elements, such as the circuit board lip, the lightweight honeycomb body, and the bottom-balanced tungsten weight system, which all enhance action. Its performance level has skipped several generations and has evolved into a completely new type.

Megabass' FX-Zero is a fairly unknown twitchbait. This is not surprising, considering the fact that this little bait has been out of production for a while now. Nevertheless, the FX-Zero has made quite a name for itself among specialised sea bass anglers, because this lure can be cast much further than other lures smaller than 10 cm due to its unique automatic retractable lip and internal weight system. These features make the twitch perfect for fishing (fast) flowing rivers, but it will also be eagerly caught by perch or other predatory fish on still water.

As many of you know the Vision Oneten has been a staple in our freshwater adventures. Ultimate Fishing Euro (EU Exclusive) has a few colors in its line-up, like this Megabas M Hot Shad, which perfectly suit fishing for salty bass.

As baitfish is growing at the moment, this would be the perfect timing to chase after seabass with hardbaits!

The Jackall TN50 is a premium Japanese lipless crankbait. Its innovative tungsten mouth allows the bait to stand straight up when reaching the bottom. Featuring a unique balance system it is perfect for slow retrieves in tough conditions. The TN50 also produces increased vibration and sound, casts like a bullet, and sinks with a strike-inducing wobble.

The O.S.P. Rudra 130 SF is very slow-floating minnow. The Spec 2 model is silent and works particularly well when fishing for passive predators. The lure has already become a pike fishing classic and is considered a very reliable hardbait. This lure dives 1.5-2.2 metres deep.

The original Bait-X was the first plastic bait ever made by Megabass back in the 80s. The key idea behind the Bait-X was, in contrast to the Griffon series, to stick around the mid-range structures by tapping (knocking, pecking) them persistently, that is, to imitate crustaceans that are trying to escape from the predators along the structures. The new Bait-X was developed with this concept in its center, yet completely updated with the Moving Balancer System of the Deep-X series and an improved lip and body.

The IMA Baby Flit is a flat minnow with a wider back and a forward-facing thin lip. The angle of the sides is made to reflect light downwards in the direction in which an attack is most likely to occur. The triangular internal chamber system maximises sound with a high pitch that mimics baitfish such as herring or anchovies.

The Megabass PopMax is based on a hand-carved original by Yuki Ito. This version has a larger body and updated gill system consisting of six water inlets and a water chamber. The inlets direct water through the gills and to the sides, while two inlets direct water into the internal chamber and out under the PopMax, generating bubbles and some disruption that attract the attention of any hungry predatory fish. The PopMax can be used as a 'normal' popper, but a soft rod tip action can also be used to create a dynamic 'roll-walk' action. This makes the PopMax the ultimate combination of a 'walk-the-dog' and a popper.

To get the most out of Megabass' PopMax, we recommend fishing it early in the morning along rocky riverbanks, over shallow flats or windward angles on big and small water.
