It is also a longer than average bow, with its 58,4 cm of playable hair. But how dos it play?
This bow, despite the extra length, is extremely well balanced throughout the stick, making it extremely easy to play in all sections of the bow, including the tip. Early and modern bassists, take a look!
Here's to you a fantastic bass bow by Coen Engelhard!
This bow has an acacia wood stick, a slide in frog, with a total weight of 123 grams. But how does it work?
I am rarely amazed by bows, since I have the luck to often have good ones in my hands. But this time I'm really, really impressed.
I brought this bow to a baroque music rehearsal, where I would play on my usual continuo bass (a great sounding, yet not so easy to tame instrument, for whose who don't know it).
This bow, despite the light weight, drew a beautiful, full and resonant sound of the bass, with clear and crispy articulations and a transparent tone, which would support yet not overwhelm the rest of the group. What I also found amazing is how easy to use this bow is; I felt at home from the very beginning, despite been used to completely different tools.
I tried it later on a solo piece, and my impressions were confirmed: this bow is a great tool for anyone playing early music, especially renaissance and baroque, and I can see how it could be also very useful in the end of a contemporary music player searching for a different type of tone.
Also, the great thing of this type of slide in frogs is that you can replace your frog at any time in about 3 seconds, and even have multiple frogs with you depending on the situation (you can contact the maker directly for this).
A great, flexible bow, at an inexpensive price. So, what are you waiting for to give it a try?

Baroque bassists, here's something for you!
I'm very glad to repropose one of our best seller models; this type of bow has been selling very well for the last two years, with plenty of satisfied players.
This bow has a greenheart stick, and a snakewood frog and button, for a total weight of 119 grams. But how does it play? Let's take a look!
This bow has a clear, resonant and transparent sound, which is present yet not overwhelming; a flexible tool, which will shine both in continuo and in solo pieces (I've tried it out on a Bach suite, and it worked great!).
Though ideal for gut strings, it will also work perfectly on steel/synthetic strings; it can also be used on a D violone.
Curious? And you'd like to try it? You're welcome to come over and check it (and more bows!) out; otherwise I can send it to your door, for a free trial! Enquire for info, price and conditions.

This bow, with its powerful, flexible and resistant stick, is a tool which is meant to resist the trial of time and come out of it untamed. The construction is so precise that you might say it's been laser cut!
The elegance of the fibers of this pernambuco stick give the bow a particular and pleasant appearance.
Sound wis there's little to say when talking about a bow like this; it's definitely not your usual carbon bow!

Hey bass fellows! How about going classical? 😃
Today we have a wonderful Sperger bow by Marco Pasquino!
This bow has a cherrywood stick, frog and button, for a total weight of 135 grams. But how does it play?
The very first feeling you get when taking this bow in your hand is that of a very comfortable, well balanced bow, which sits comfortably in your hand without any uneven leaning. As soon as you put it on the string, the sound you hear is clear, resonant and rich, though transparent and well projected. The sound comes out effortlessly, without any need to force, both on gut and steel.
Next to it, it's a very easy to handle bow, especially in fast articulations; no quick runs and chordal arpeggios are a problem when using it, and the result is clear, crispy phrasing, still retaining a beautiful sound quality.
A bow that will work without any problem both in solo and ensemble music, and that can definitely become a flexible tool in a bass player's hand!

New year, new bows!
Lets's start with a blast with a beautiful Renaissance bow by Coen Engelhard!
This bow is made out of what's commonly called acacia (Robinia Pseudoacacia), an elastic, flexible and resistant wood originally from North America, yet nowadays available pretty much all over Europe as well. This sort of trees grows easily and quickly, making this wood a sustainable choice.
But how does it play and sound?
The bow has a clear, transparent sound, with a definite attack when needed, yet enough suppleness to approach the most heartfelt solo lines. This bow's reactivity is such that it will be able to transmit to the string exactly what the musician is doing, and it becomes literally an extension of the player's hand. This makes it particularly ideal when playing continuo, from calm, laid back lines up to the wildest dances and battles.
Here I speak from my own experience as a player: I've been owning one of these bows for years, and I'm yet to find a more satisfactory one!
This bow's weight (92 grams) makes it perfect for a G and/or D violone, but it can also work very well on a double bass, depending on the player's preferences.
The frog can be easily removed (it simply slides along the stick), and substituted with another one. For this, you can contact the maker directly, who will be happy to help you (this service is not included, in the price and is to be agreed directly with the bowmaker).
