Read to improve your life!
If you are dealing with mental health problems, depression, anxiety or suicidal thoughts as a result of feeling you’ve failed in life, this book might bring comfort and change your perspective on things. 🤎
This book is a story about Nora. A 35-year old woman that is overwhelmed by regrets and thoughts of missed opportunities. When the loneliness, the lack of feeling loved and useful takes over her will to live, she decides to overdose and end her life.
But something strange happens.
She finds herself suddenly in a place between life and death, called The Midnight Library. 🏫
In this place she is finally getting the chance to experience how life would be like if she made different decisions in her life. Nora can finally see what her life would look like, if she had done certain things differently... but what life will she eventually choose?
This book is a fiction, but with powerful lessons about gratitude, perspective, philosophy, self love, inner strength, and the essence of happiness.
A strongly recommended book.

Deep work: activities that are done without interruption, in full concentration, that push your mind, creativity, and craft to their absolute limit.🧠
In today’s world we have an unhealthy amount of distractions. We are interrupted constantly through pop-up notifications on our phone, we’re losing ourselves by constantly engaging on social media platforms, and keep ourselves busy with work that is mostly very shallow. The result? A decrease or complete absence in deep work. And if you’re not able to perform deep work, you’ll become replaceable, lose value in an information economy that is changing rapidly, and most importantly, you’ll jeopardize your mental state and risk living unhappy. Depth creates meaning, so you don’t want to lose the capacity to work deep.
In this book Cal Newport explains why it is psychologically, economically, and neurologically necessary for you to perform deep work.
A very important read. After reading the content you’ll think twice about mindlessly scrolling through social media, and always being available for interruption (even if it’s something small like answering an incoming e-mail). Excellent results only come from focussing immensely and diving in deeply. Everything else is just… depthless.

As a Man Thinketh, published in 1903, is one of the best known works from James Allen, a philosophical writer and a pioneer of the self-help movement.
The book is short and simple yet full of wisdom. It contains lessons, teachings and advice on the power of thought.
It all starts in the mind. Whatever your circumstances are, know that it can all be traced back to your thoughts.💭
If you have pure and good thoughts, you’ll not only have a healthier body but overall a more successful life. Strong thoughts build a strong and graceful life. Fearful and wrongful thoughts can destroy you more than anything else. If you are not satisfied by how you feel, what you attract and what your environment looks like, start with altering your mind. Because eventually, no thought can be kept a secret; your thoughts reveal themselves in the quality of your life. 🍀
I recommend this book to everyone, it’s an essential read.

When I first heard about this book I thought the content would only be of value to men. After all, the title seems to speak to men only…
But as a woman, a lot of parts made my feminine core feel very understood.
David Deida talks about how to become a superior man; a man (or someone who has a masculine core) who follows his true purpose, guides himself with discipline, and creates an environment for his woman (or someone who has a feminine core) where she can flourish and grow beautifully. 🌷
Most of us have unconsciously distanced ourselves from our core, be it masculine or feminine, because a lot of women felt the need to be more masculine and a lot of men felt they were being pushed into being more feminine. The result is that those that denied their true core feel drained and have a lack of energy flowing through their body, and live an unfulfilled life.
Deida basically says that if we are conscious of ourselves and our purpose depending on our core, despite what society might want or expect, we can live a much more fulfilling life and have a much more satisfying relationship with our partner.

If you love reading quotes and short passages about different aspects of life, this is a great book for you.
Writer, poet and philosopher Emily Maroutian has compiled more than 200 bits of wisdom that she has gathered up until her 30th year.
There are great lessons and pieces of advice in the book that you can reflect on. The book even encourages you to feel free ripping out some of the pages and put them in a place where you can use it as an important reminder.
A lovely read.

Most introverts at a party be like 😅
This is not the first book I’ve read that has a bit of a cheesy or salesy title, but shares a great message.
The book is basically about reaching your full potential and live the life of your dreams. In order to do that you need to love yourself hard enough to know you deserve everything you desire, and have enough faith to believe that you are capable of actually getting it.
The content of You Are A Badass is not new; the book contains lessons and concepts that you might have read before a dozen times in other books. But, the way Jen Sincero delivers these lessons and advice to become your best and highest self, is what makes this book stand out. Jen’s writing is funny, relatable and she knows how to explain things in a very easy way.
A great motivational book where Jen Sincero wants you to realize that you should stop worrying about what other people think, stop feeling sorry for the things that you lack in life, and stop being so unhealthy to yourself. Love yourself, and good things will follow.

A great story with so many life lessons…
This book was recommended to me a lot so I obviously needed to read it. And even though I started with somewhat high expectations, it still amazed me as it wasn’t predictable.
The story starts with the end: an 83-year-old man named Eddy gets into a tragic accident and dies an awful death.
After that he is sent to heaven. But heaven isn’t what he expected to be. In heaven, he gets to meet 5 different people. And each of them have something to teach him about his life on earth.
Through these 5 people he is able to look back at his life, the good and the bad. There were events in his life that happened that Eddy never understood, but in heaven… it all starts to make sense.
The story is lovely, relatable, heartbreaking and touching. Highly recommend everyone reads this book!

"There is no friend as loyal as a book."- Ernest Hemingway
I never knew that Trevor Noah, the comedian we all know from The Daily Show had such a turbulent life. And it all started from the day he was born…
He was born in South Africa to a black mother and a white father during apartheid, and that meant that his birth was the consequence of a criminal act. Because during that time it was forbidden by law for a black person to mix with a white person, and vice versa.
Trevor grew up never knowing where he fitted in; he was too light for the black people and too black for the white people. He understood that this was all an illusion made up by the ones who had the power to keep controlling people by dividing them, instead of uniting them. But knowing that didn’t seem to matter. He still needed to find his way through the chaos and the aftermath.
His life story is amazingly interesting. You find out that he was brought up by a very strong mother who – despite immense difficulties like poverty, a lack of support system, patriarchy, an abusive, alcoholic husband – did everything in her power to keep Trevor from drifting to the wrong path.
I loved reading Trevor Noah’s autobiography, especially through his observing eyes and funny comments. It also provided a good understanding of the struggles that were experienced by many during apartheid. A recommended read.
