Impressionistic still life painting with orange chrysanthemums in vase - Oil painting on hardboard - By Belgian artist Pieter Ringoot. (1921-2011)
A still life is an artistic composition of motionless or lifeless objects that have been carefully lit. Painting a still life allows a painter to concentrate on the composition and on the use of colour and tonal value, the flowing distinction in colour nuances between the lightest and darkest lot.
As an academic painter, Pieter produced dozens of still lifes. To create the works, he used various substrates such as canvas, hardboard, cardboard or other materials that happened to be available. He usually painted with oil or watercolour.
As Pieter’s grandson, I have photographed many of my grandfather’s artworks in high resolution, (and sometimes digitally restored them) for all to enjoy. Some of the photographed works are available, as prints on various materials, through my webshop.

From Countess Alpaïdis to King Baudouin.
Browsing through the estate of my grandfather Pieter Ringoot, which I manage, I found a black and white print of a family tree that he once “calligraphed” on behalf of the Belgian Royal Family. After all, my grandfather was not only a painter, but also a typesetter, marble painter and calligrapher.
As a civilian he worked for years for the “Arsenal” as he called it. This was a department of the Belgian Ministry of Defense in Brussels. Through a number of high-ranking military personnel, the order to create the family tree eventually came to him.
For his work on this family tree, he was invited by the then King Boudewijn to receive a ribbon. As far as I know he has refused this… with the reason “It's my job after all”.
The original hand-lettered parchment seems to hang somewhere in a Belgian palace. Where I don't know.
If someone from my network knows someone who knows someone ... and can get hold of a good photo of the original via via I would be very grateful to him or her!
I would like to add this photo to the GalerieRingoot site, where an overview of my grandfather's life and work can be found.
I added a new high resolution scan of a drawing by my grandfather Pieter Ringoot to the site of GalerieRingoot and the webshop.
It’s a Pen drawing and view of the d**e and the Belgian village of Vlassenbroek (near Dendermonde and Baasrode) along the river Scheldt
My grandfather never started a painting without thorough preliminary studies of his subject. He drew this Study with pen and ink in preparation for the oil painting "View of the Sint-Gertrudiskerk and the woods from the Scheldt d**e in Vlassenbroek" which is also on the site of GalerieRingoot and on this insta account.
At the end of the 19th and early 20th century, many artists moved to Vlassenbroek and the artists' village along the Scheldt became an inspiration for many painters from the Dendermondse School. In the second half of the 20th century, the quiet East Flemish village mainly became a tourist attraction for cyclists and walkers. (source wikipedia)

View of the Calmeynbos in De Panne (Belgium - West Flanders) - painted by my grandfather Pieter Ringoot around 1980 - Oil on canvas
The original artwork has a size of 40x50 cm. It’s niw available as print on different materials in my instashop, my webshop and webshop.
My grandfather was not someone who really liked travelling far abroad. Going on holiday was something he usually just did on the Belgian coast. However, he never left without his sketchbook and some painting supplies. (Something never do either, by the way) The result of this are several mostly impressionist works painted in the vicinity of the West Flemish coastal towns of De Panne and Oostduinkerke.
The Calmeynbos is located on the territory of De Panne. The forest is bisected by the Kerkstraat, which forms the connection between De Panne and Adinkerke. The eastern part of the forest is owned by the municipality of De Panne and joins the Oosthoek dunes. The forest was planted in 1903, partly on dunes with intact relief, partly on levelled former fields. This was done on the initiative of agricultural engineer Maurice Calmeyn. He was interested in the growth potential of trees in calcareous dunes and therefore had an 85 ha deciduous forest planted.
The forest is a well-developed elm-apple forest with spontaneous rejuvenation and great biotic and abiotic variability. Today, 25 species of trees and 40 species of shrubs grow there. It is rich in mosses, lichens and fungi and provides breeding opportunities for forest birds such as the golden oriole and several species of woodpeckers. Both to the east (the Oosthoekduinen) and to the west (the Krakeelduinen) lies a semi-open dune landscape.
Since 1935, the forest has been protected as a landscape and it is also part of the Natura 2000 network as part of 'Dune areas including IJzermonding and Zwin' (source; wikipedia)
"The animals" - painted in 2011 - Semi expressionistic acrylic painting on canvas by Dutch illustrator and artist Hans Sturris.

Impressionistic painting with family and fishermen at the ramparts of the fortified town of Hulst in the Dutch province of Zeeland. (Netherlands)
Oil on canvas. Painted around 1980 by my grandfather Pieter Ringoot.
However situated in the Netherlands, Hulst was nearby and the canals were an excellent place to fish. Something my grandfather did quite often. It was also an ideal time to go out with the family. Therefore, the people in this impressionist painting are all family members of the painter.
The painting was not painted on the spot. Various sketches and studies were made on location. The painting was carefully composed in the studio in Lebbeke.
The painting is now available as print on different media. Check my shop or instagram shopping.

Hi followers, I need your help!
I gave this untitled acrylic artwork, painted by my father-in-law Hans Sturris the title "white bandages".

I and my father in law are very 😃 today because this work is sold as art print on canvas to someone living in Germany!

Promoting artwork for my GalerieRingoot is something you have to do on social Media! But don't forget the power of an offline promotional article!
So I combined online and offline.
With some pride and thanks to Sevgi Kandemir, one of my media design students at , who designed the box. I can now show everyone my new promotional article.
The front of the cards shows an image of the artwork, the back gives some explanation about it and contains a QR code. Scanning the QR code will open the artwork in my webshop.
I am still working on additional cards and also a card to promote the “werkaandemuur” app.
With this app you can try out the work on your own wall at home using the card and the app.
Now that the cutting plans of the boxes are ready, they are also “easy” to reproduce. (It does take some time to assemble them) so I can leave them in several places. Interested? You can also try to explainer why I should send you a box for free…
