Almost 24 years.....π₯°
"Embrace"
When I finally found the love of my life, and had learned through trial and error how precious this is, I wanted to make clear to my sweetheart how I saw our life together, or how it could be. Words fall short, so decided to try to capture that in a sculpture.
This sculpture is about balance, intimacy and 1 basic thought that we can share.
We have now been together for 30 years, and married for almost 24 years......
p.s. we still have some excellent Bronze copies from this sculpture in the workshop.
A new addition to the album Classical Portraits....
Browse through it if you can spare some time.

What have we done so far?
The rough shape has been sharpened and the 1st acid has been applied.
Just a little weld here and there, and the sculpture is ready for the pedestal.
Almost there......
What are we doing ?
A couple, married for 50 years with 4 sons.
She wanted a memory of her sons for this anniversary.
Old photo, reworked and cut out with the plasma cutter.
Material: 4mm steel.
Now just a bit of grinding, letting it rust and a U-profile as a counterweight at the bottom.
I will keep you informed!

"Stunned"
That was me when I woke up, which happened years ago.
The more I experience, hear and see in these current strange times, the more bewildered I become.
It reminds me a bit of the lemming story, when there are too many of them they throw themselves into misfortune, a kind of mass psychosis, die en masse, and then just start all over again.

W.I.P.
Finishing the next sculpture:
We only use iron oxide and microcrystalline wax for this work.
What particularly interests me is the skin structure: a very coarse clay, yet a refined shape... yes, I like this contrast.
But a coarse clay also dries more easily and causes less breakage when burning.
Just a little polishing for a soft shine, and then it's done as far as I'm concerned.
We will keep you informed....
Having fun in the workshop.....
A bit of planning ahead, tackling pending issues and of course tidying up, and then suddenly having a revelation of time.
A few small sculptures that have been traveling with me for a long time, which I never wanted to trade, caught my eye, how dirty they had become, I had to clean them urgently.
While I was cleaning them I came across the date of burning: 1992
And bang...
I was 30 years old, studied monumental painting, met a nice gentleman who opened a pottery studio in my then hometown, with whom I started talking.
That conversation ended with me receiving the key to his studio, with the words "You do whatever you want Dieter."
From that moment on, that studio became the center of my existence. No more nights of pleasant chats and drinks with friends in a bar, that was over.
Suddenly I had access to a fully equipped ceramic studio, accessible day and night.
That's when my "real" clay story began.
I could experiment to the extent that it was a delight, I could explore every direction, from turning pots to hollow building larger figures, that is also where these small nudes were created.... which is now half of my current life ago ....talking about time.
I will never forget the trust I received from this gentleman and the opportunities he offered me.
I don't know if you're still alive or where you are dear Gart...but I haven't forgotten: thank youπ
Then you go to live in a small village because you think the social life is better there......
Just heard that fellow villager and character Koos died last week and was cremated yesterday.
Our thoughts go to Marga and we wish her strength and our condolences.π’
The making of the portrait of the old lady had a reach of +/- 39,000 (and still running) from start to finish, which I personally don't think is bad...
Thank you for your attention, and if you would also like to have a portrait made, then I would like to hear from you. π
For now: on to the next job.π
Portait of an older woman.
Info:

Burned to 600 C in 4 hours, then full throttle to 1200 C.
Finished with diluted acrylic and clear beeswax.
The "Golden Branch" above the workshop,
for protection, love, health and energy.
It's that time again... cleaning the workshop and checking the materials.
The good news:I received a manoeuvrable and height-adjustable work table from an acquaintance , the height can be varied from 60 to 95 cm, useful when we work on larger pieces.
What do we start with?
With that which has been left behind during the almost ended cold period.π₯Ά
I will keep you informed and wish everyone a lot of creativity in the coming season.
See you aroundπ

π¦
In the mid-90s I had the opportunity to anticipate a series of erotic fairs, which I was interested in, for the following reasons:
N**e is NOT bedroom art...
Naked is the basis of life.
Naked is beautiful.
Naked should never be hypocritical, if that's what happens...we find ourselves in strange times.
Working with nudes is challenging for the artist on several levels......
But as those fairs passed by, I noticed a few strange things:
Men who wanted to look at this work, and were pulled away by their wives....
The shadowy giggling peeking...
And yes, these fairs did attract colorful types...
We have now moved further in time, and as with everything, moral values change, colored by all kinds of developments along the way.
But, I still think nudes are beautiful, and I hope to be able to make several more exciting works, that's why this folder... to bring the works together a bit.
Enjoy it and let yourself be drawn away.
