In this page we will record the progress and the decisions we make while we build our dream house, a The state of the house was terrible. Cost: moderate.
In first place, WELCOME everybody and THANKS for taking a few moments to stop by. So, here is how the story goes:
Some years ago, Hubert bought a very little tiny house in Zeeland, on the south of The Netherlands. Practically it had to be demolished and built up again. He slowly began to renovate/rebuild it. This included stripping it completely (walls, floors and ceilings), installing insulation
on the roof, pouring new concrete on the floor and replacing the facade joints inside and outside. Short after that, I met him and plans changed. We decided to make it a family house and therefore engaged ourselves in a huge extension. Because of the size of the project and the limited resources, we decided to do the work ourselves. Time/Effort: VERY MUCH. Satisfaction: best decision ever.
2.5 years afterwards, we are still working on it. As the pictures show, the newbuild is standing, although there is plenty of work to still be done inside. Namely: installations (floor heating, electric installation, sewage and drainage, ventilation, warm water, fresh water, domotica...), finish (floor, walls, ceiling) and final touches. In this page we will be posting pictures of all the tasks that we manage to scratch out of the ´To Do´ list, decisions that we make and anecdotes. Coming soon, we will start with a blog to give further information, pictures and details, for those who are working on similar projects and have more curiosity. And for now, let the journey begin!
