We finally got the hood to sit pretty and stay closed. Took a lot of time adjusting the springlatch. Also finishing the right front door.

Last door is in! Hood is on as well..

Replaced the master clutch cylinder tonight. Horrible job. Also fitted the windscreen and adjusted the rear doorlock so the door would sit 100% flush

Moonroof in action

Moonroof fully installed and functional. We also completed the work on the headliner, A-pillars and the sun visors.

Fitted the side mirror, piecing together the sunroof parts and trimming the last bits of the headliner.

Took a while to line things up, but I think we're spot on for now.

Sometimes things take longer than expected. But as long as you're happy with the end result it's okay😁

White M535i transformation. Going from the shadowline steel bumpers back to the factory original look with the M-Technic bumpers and skirts.

Oh boy, it's been a while. Loooong term update then I guess.
Remember, it's only one night a week but we did manage the following:

Fit engine, gearbox, driveshaft, exhaust etc. Still working on the clutch but once sorted she could drive and brake.
Putting interior in place, still working on the sunroof and headliner there.
Body panels are going on, it's all coming together now. Front end is done, currently fitting the doors on the left side.

All new parking brake components and brakelines installed last night. Left side took a while, but once we sorted through all the parts and figured everything out, right side was done in 40 minutes. And yes clip on caliper was installed, just not on the picture😁

So... project purple is on the way again, we decided to continue and begin with the hardest part, installing sunroof and headliner🙈🤯

Yes, Sinterklaas paid our workshop a visit as well!

Long term update on project Alpine Weiss. The demise of the original Alpina B9 engine led to a swap in of a standard 218 hp M30B34 engine. After this we decided to remove all the added Alpina parts and go back to the authentic M535i look it came with from the factory. We sourced the correct steering wheel, shift k**b and also an original cloth E28 sport interior. On the exterior, we removed the Alpina decals and front spoiler. The Alpina wheels have now also been replaced with BBS RC090's. Next year we'll be looking to replace the bumpers with original M-tech bumpers and add the side skirts and rear spoiler. Let us know what you think in the comments.

So we picked up another parts car, a real M5 this time.... no, not really, so we should get some applause for taking badge tuned 520i's off the road😄. Anyway, it will yield us some parts we can use and for others the parts we don't need. Like this in perfect working order 240km/h instrument cluster, rare cassette holder and a clock in excellent condition. We also worked a bit on the interior of project purple before we move on the brakes and drivetrain. Shoot us a message if you need any parts of the parts car, mtech parts are reserved however.

Spent about three evenings looking for parts and prepping the wiring loom in order to fit the dash and the center console. When we changed the steering column to a type 2 we also switched the pedal box, turns out the brake light switch uses a different connector, but we found the right one on the 524td wiring loom. The trial fit of the center console looks pretty good except for the wiring of the ashtray light as that's too short.

A broken off bolt during tear down caused some headache during the buildup. But in the end I got rid of it and I was able to place the fuel tank in it's original position.
Also remembered to install the new rear emblem.

Tadaa! Rear spoiler, new for this car, installed. Looks really nice so a good upgrade over the previous spoiler. Forgot to bring the new badge with me, next time. Spent a good amount of time pulling the wiring loom through the trunk lid, no fun.

Made some good progress with the wiring loom tonight. Also good to plan ahead for the in car entertainment when all the carpet is still out. Wireless bluetooth and amplifier preparations already made.

So,

Long time since last update, some illness and also holidays came in between the work on the cars. Started work again on the purple project, sorting out the wiring loom. Also spent a good deal of time on the white E28 swapping interior, brakes and getting her ready for MOT. Finally also a lot of car swapping, we brought the white NK back to our shed. She's next up to finish after the purple E28.

Not much going on this week except for transporting the project back to our workshop. Little bit of a reunion😄

Photos from Classic Cult Cars and Parts's post 18/06/2021

And on it's own wheels (not the final ones) again. Next up, transport back to our own workshop for further buildup.

First order of business: put rear lights in car! Next up is getting the car on it's own axles and wheels.

Puzzle in progress...🙈

Unbelievable result! The sparkle in the sun vs. the dark purple in the shade is awesome! Looking forward to building her up with the team and our customer, for now, just soaking up some more sunshine😎

Ready for some paint tomorrow! Engine bay and trunk are up first.

Photos from Classic Cult Cars and Parts's post 20/05/2021

Next week friday, the body is hopefully going to the painters for spraying the engine bay and trunk.

Trial fit before final sand down, lines are looking good!

Photos from Classic Cult Cars and Parts's post 29/04/2021

The body is pretty much ready for a coat of primer and then sanding down. Off to the painter in about 3 weeks.
