Both Trianum and Orius have been a great success at Rodolfo Sánchez's leek fields. 🌱🚜

Trianum has turned tired soil into a lively one, with healthy root systems. The transformation of chemical thrips control to the biological method using Orius has also turned out for the better. "When we used chemicals, sometimes we had to do treatments every ten days, and we had more and more thrips. Now we use Orius every ten to fifteen days and we didn't have to use chemicals at all", says Sánchez.

Spores of the fungus Lecanicillium muscarium attach to the whiteflies and thrips and germinate, penetrating the insect's cuticle and invading the the body cavity.

Once inside, the fungus releases enzymes that break down the insect's internal organs, leading to it's death. The fungus then uses the dead insect as a source of nutrients to grow and produce more spores, which can infect other insects.

This spring, Koppert bumblebees are hard at work providing effective pollination to growers all around the world. Theys are active from early morning until late at night, even in relatively low temperatures or under cloudy and windy conditions.

Bumblebees use a method called 'buzz-pollination,' a special ability that allows them to pollinate a flower in a single visit.

Although bumblebees coexist well with honeybees, our research suggests that having a larger proportion of bumblebees results in more efficient pollination.
