Last friday being the last official day of period 6 concludes year 2023-2024! We want to thank you all for an amazing year filled with great activities, drinks, parties, trips and more!! For everybody that still has some resits: good luck

In June we went to Friesland for our yearly CODON weekend. We first went to REMON where we learned more about their techniques to filter water and had a tour at their location. On Saturday we went paintballing and had a climbing course. We had a lot of fun and are looking forward to next CODON weekend :)

Dear members, my name is Christian Renne and I am the new secretary of Board 71 of CODON. I am 21 years old and in the second year of my Biotechnology bachelor. I have been an active member of the Axie and the DoMiBoCo and during my second year I realized I wanted to do more for CODON, so I decided to apply for the function of secretary. Up until now I have enjoyed my function a lot since it gives a nice overview of the total association. I am very excited to try my best to make CODON even better than it already is!
On a personal level I enjoy spending time with my friends and roommates. I am also a member of the rowing association Argo where I have been rowing. My favorite red food are raspberries and my favorite WUR building has to be Forum since the CODON Hok is there.
Please feel free to approach me if you need to tell me anything or if you just want to enjoy a beer with me in the Hok!

Hi guys, my name is Ellen Beishuizen and I am the study commissioner of Codon during the 71st board! Currently, I am 19 years old and almost finished with my bachelor biotechnology. Within Codon, I am a member of our sorority W.D.B. Mitovea where we do fun activities on wednesdays! When I’m not in Wageningen in the weekends, I’m a water scouting leader where I really love to sail in the summer.

My favorite red fruit is an apple, as it is the theme of Mitovea and can be used for a lot of different foods (and drinks!). My favourite building on the campus, besides Forum of course, is Helix because I (should) spend quite some time there for my thesis.

What I look forwards to the most about being the study commissioner is making new and future students enthousiastic about biotechnology, and helping our current students if they are having trouble within their study. Aside from the study related parts, I’m really looking forward to all the activities that are planned and getting to know everyone.

Idealis wants to close the flatpubs De Bunker and De Woeste Hoeve. Annie’s Kroeg has already been closed for renovation and to turn into a ‘common room’. The future of the flatpubs is unstable. These places are essential in the Wageningen student life! They are home to many students and studentassociations.
Let’s get together on the 25th at the houseparties in Dijkgraaf! We can show that chaos can be regulated by keeping the flatpubs open!

Today, we present to you the first years committee: The BiotECs!🎊 The committee is very large this year, and they have already organised some nice activities, for example the Sinterklaas cantus last Tuesday!🍻🎉

The MasterCie organizes activities for students with the masters Biobased Sciences, Biotechnology and Bioinformatics.
The Domiboco organizes a domibo (Thursday afternoon drink every three weeks.
The BusinessCie is in charge of everything related to business. They organize lunch lectures and excursions.
And the WeekendCie organizes the annual CODON weekend!

The SportCie organises big and small sporting events for CODON throughout the academic year, including the annual paintball and lasertag!

The BiotECs consists of first year students only. Each period they organize an activity for their fellow first year students. Every year they organize the Black and White party 🪩with .s.v.alchimica, and a ‘labjasborrel’. This evening the white boring labcoats are decorated!🥼

The Axie is one of the bigger committees of CODON. They organize various events throughout the year to have biotechnology students meet and get to know each other outside of the lecture halls and laboratories. The Axie is responsible for a lot of non-study related activities. Like parties, BBQ’s, movie night, bowling and the annual New Years Dinner!😁

CODON cannot exist without its committees. They organise activities or help the board.

A committee exists of a president🤵‍♀️, secretary📖, treasurer💸 and general members👥.
Together they have mostly weekly meetings where they discuss topics but also have a nice chat with each other.
You can learn new skills: design, communication with businesses, budgeting, everything is possible.
This way you help CODON, make new friends but also develop yourself. 🏅

When you’re a member you can join every committee you want! And with our variety of committees there has to be a committee to your likings.✔️

In the first period you can get to know all the committees and members but we will also introduce them on Instagram in the following days.

Yesterday, we kicked off period 6 with a very useful activity: the Softskill Workshop. Workshops were given about lobbying, pitching and interviewing and we also had the chance to check our CV and LinkedIn profile. Thanks Veste, The Kleine Consultant and Wageningen Student Career Services for contributing to this enriching evening!

Recap time! The clothing swap last year in the Sustainability week was a great succes. Next week, there will be a Sustainability Week again starting with the Clothing Swap activity! And you can bring all of your friends because not only CODON members, but everyone is invited!!
So, bring your old clothes and come and swap them for some vintage clothing!

Last Tuesday, we enjoyed an amazing Pre-Easter brunch organised by the Braccie! We had some delicious filled eggs, baguettes, and chocolate eggs.

In the beginning of March, a cheese tasting was organized by Thomas, our secretary. We got to taste many different cheeses. 🧀Thank you very much Thomas, we enjoyed it!

T3 party: 3 'tech' study-associations coming together: We, CODON (Biotechnology), Nicolas Appert (Foodtechnology) and Heeren XVII (Agrotechnology) battled against each other for the ultimate title. Who'd you think won? Of course, CODON did!
