I’m feeling very grateful. The current custom order journal I’m working on, is almost finished. Yesterday I received 2 requests for a custom order journal. I accepted them both. ☺️

The theme of one will be “Albert Einstein” and the theme of the other one will be “Lily of the Valley”

The signatures of the “Virgen de Guadalupe” journal are sewn in. It’s a tribute journal to A strong Mexican woman. A journal full of color and Mexican tradition and roses. I attached 3 charms with colored beads. A guitar because she loved traditional Mexican music, a feathe because she’s an angel niw watching over her loved ones, a flower because she loved flowers, especially roses. Flip through “Magnolia” art/junk journal 🌸🌸🌸

This journal is meant to be like a tactile treasure hunt when flipping through the pages. There is a lot of different texture and elements to discover on every page and on the cover, such as dryed Rosemary twigs brought back from Greece last summer (you can smell the Rosemary), slow stitching, feathers, skeleton leaves, buttons, teabags, embossed acetate, twine, metal wire, feather charm, burlap, cheese cloth, hand stamed linen tape and lace. The pictures I used throughout the journal are all taken by myself.

It can be used to journal in or to do your own art work. But you could also decide to just leave it as it is and enjoy it as a piece of art on your coffee table.

Size: 12x15 cm ( 5x5.8 inches)

For the pages I used the pages of a vintage photo album. There are 4 pages of canvas sheet, 1 side flip from a double layer of embossed acetate with a feather in between, 1 page with a window made from a double layer of embossed acetate and a tiny feather in between and a fabric page that flips up. I collaged most of the pages with antique dictionary book pages, teabags and napkin, added some gesso, chalk paint and oxide inks to create texture. The pages have different sizes to create a layerd effect showing all the different textures. Throughout the journal I did stenciling with oxide inks and hand stamping. The pages are connected with ink stained cotton fabric and than sewn with a 3 hole pamphlet stich to the spine of the cover.

For the softcover I used upholstery fabric, lace, stained cotton fabric and a cotton crocheted doily. The focal piece on the front cover is a magnolia flower I formed from metal wire. I hand stitched it on stained fabric with embroidery floss. It’s mounted on a cardstock flap also collaged with antique dictionary pages with underneath a pocket. The flap closes with metal buttons to the crocheted doily.
