The topic this year is “Modern Day Entrepreneurship”. Expert Speakers will address different angles of Entrepreneurship, including Start-Ups, Innovation Management and Sustainable Investment.

The Advisory Board (AB) is looking for 3 new members. This supervisory board consists of a mix of students and alumni who have experience within associations (ECU'92 or other associations).
What does the Advisory Board do?
We both advise and monitor the Executive Board as well as support them through our Buddy system. We help them design policy and track their progress throughout the year. Our focus lies on the long term perspective and strategic issues. Last year, we helped the Board with designing the new Strategic Plan, which consists of 4 focus points the association will have in the upcoming 5 years. We aim to help the association move forward and reevaluate the current ways of the association. For example, we ask the Executive Board to reflect on all the trips/events ECU organises and what value they bring for the members. Other topics that we discuss at meetings with the Board are day-to-day activities and the relations with important ECU stakeholders, such as USE, business partners or alumni. At the end of the year we play an active role in the Board succession procedure to make sure that it is fair and inclusive.
We are looking for candidates with the following characteristics
- Critical thinking
- Strategic thinking and long term perspective
- Strong interest in ECU’92
- Involved team player
- Can support or coach Board members in their personal development
- Has organizational skills
- Commitment to stay a member of the Advisory Board for at least 2 years
- Is still close to the association (optional)
- Has experience in the corporate world (optional)
- Has an international background (optional)

FACULTY COUNCIL ELECTIONS 16th - 18th of May
Hey everyone!
My name is Cindy Dam, I am a third-year Honours student and I am about to finish my board year at the study association ECU'92. In my three years at our faculty, I have experienced many great things, but I have also noticed many points for improvement. One of these points is the representation of different genders and ethnicities in educational and decision-making staff, so students from all backgrounds feel seen. Additionally, more room for feedback from students: on courses, also having the ability to evaluate after exams, so you have a clear view of the entire course, but also a clearer way to give feedback on non-teaching related topics, such as organizational issues, faculty-broad suggestions, staff issues, etc.
Next to my own experiences, I have spoken to many students during my board year and heard many great ideas to improve our faculty, e.g. the ability to choose your tutorial teacher yourselves, so they match your preferred style of learning; more practical experiences during your study program; clearer information, guidance, and flexibility towards non-study experiences like internships, career-related side jobs, workshops, volunteering, etc. My goal is to voice all your ideas to the faculty, making sure they are heard instead of being lost, and to improve the quality of our faculty for all students!

My name is Jornt Haarman, I am currently a third-year student at USE. In these three years I have experienced the education at our faculty in two different ways, 2 years as a student and 1 year as a board member of ECU’92. In my 2 years as a student, I noticed that there is still room for improvement within our faculty, mainly in the educational and communicative part of the faculty. As a board member I have noticed that there can also be improvements within the organisation of the faculty, currently it takes a lot of work and time to be able to change anything within the faculty. Just changing everything from Dutch to English within the faculty in the last year took a longer time than expected even though we have a lot of internationals within the economics and business economics for many years already. I believe there should be clearer communication between students and staff. Next to this I also hear from a lot of students that they are not happy with the current level of education, students should be more involved in decisions to change the layout of courses. Students should also be able to choose their own times to join tutorials, since a lot of students are not happy with the fixed timeslots that they receive due to their busy schedule and external activities.

Hi! My name is Henri De Cort, I am a second year BSc student at USE.
Just like you, I value education at most which is the reason why I would like to represent your voice in the Faculty Council next academic year. First, it is important to know what the faculty council stands for. It is an organ that consults the dean on matters concerning the faculty, such as teaching and examination regulations, internationalisation, diversity and even the financial matters.
To give you an idea what my ambitions are for our faculty, I present here two points of attention that I would like to work on in the faculty council. Due to my experience as an ECU’92 Board member, I noticed the importance of the inclusivity for both dutch and international students at our faculty. This can only be achieved with awareness within every level of our faculty. I would put a focus on this.
As a student, I value the chance of rewatching a lecture at my pace because not everyone can concentrate during a lecture or was able to write down all the useful course material. Therefore, I would bring this to the attention in the hope, it will stay/come back for our courses.
I trust that I will get your trust to represent you in the faculty council and therefore I hope that you will vote for me at the next elections.

Hello. My name is Bhavya Bheemsetty, and I am 19 years old. I wish to convey to you why I am an appropriate candidate for the LEG Faculty Board of 2022-2023. I am currently a part of the USE honors cohort and the UNICEF Student Team Utrecht and thus I associate with students from different years and faculties. I am originally from India, but I have been living in the Netherlands since the past 6 years. Therefore, I am aware of the issues and concerns of international as well as Dutch students.
I wish to support implementing more scholarship opportunities for international students. For easier integration purposes, I would like to propel ideas for making Dutch language learning more accessible and affordable. In addition to the live lecture sessions, I believe providing recordings for all of them as a supplement will help make learning more efficient. Furthermore, introducing a platform for secondhand books within the university would make education more sustainable and cost-effective. Lastly, making internship possibilities more accessible for students across all years is particularly important.
I believe these proposals can enhance the overall student experience at this university. I aspire to represent your views and preferences and I am confident that I can provide valuable insights to make things more beneficial for students. I would be more than delighted to receive your vote during the elections and would be thrilled to be a part of the Faculty Board the following academic year.
