Good Monday! We are excited to start the second round of Piksel Fest Spill activities, this time focused on Live Coding. Live coding (sometimes referred to as 'on-the-fly programming', 'just-in-time programming', and 'conversational programming') is a performing arts form and a creative technique centered on writing source code and using interactive programming in an improvised way. SAVE THE DATE: On June 8th, guest artists Blaž Pavlica from Slovenia and Flor de Fuego from Germany will perform using virtual instruments through Hydra live coding instances within IDLE, the Inclusive Digital Laboratory for Experimental Art at Studio 207 in Bergen. The event will also be streamed for an international audience. Hydra is live code-able video synth and coding environment that runs directly in the browser. This workshop allows participants to play virtual instruments within the IDLE Virtual Gallery environment. “Silent Vegetal Thoughts” is open today! Come and experience for yourself how plants communicate! Featuring 12 sensors, 21 actuators, a garden with 35 plants, and an IoT system with 4 rows of individually addressed LED bulb lights, this interconnected system allows plants to take control of the room! The plants are highly sensitive to your interaction, communicating through electrical impulses and vibrations. We are open today from 12:00 to 18:00. We express our gratitude to all those who attended the closure of the Piksel (no) festival. A special thanks goes out to the artists Flor de Fuego and Blaz Pavlica, who presented their latest project on IDLE. This marked the inaugural demonstration of the ability to engage with a HYDRA instance within the IDLE framework, manipulating both the lights and visuals in the physical gallery from the virtual web gallery. This prototype exemplifies the myriad possibilities that free/libre technologies can contribute to the realms of visual art and audiovisual performance.

Open to anyone interested in innovative digital solutions for the inclusion of people with reduced mobility/functionality. The meeting will include presentation of IDLE so far, exploration of Piksel Cyber Salon and end with a small workshop on how to navigate and utilize opportunities available in this platform. The goal for the evening is to inspire participants to take further part in the project as IDLE mediators!
