The first part of the webinar by Susanna Diamanti will focus on a case involving a 41-year-old woman who experienced an acute ischemic stroke caused by a medium vessel occlusion. Key elements of this clinical scenario will include the diagnostic procedures and decision-making involved in the Emergency Department.

Marialuisa Zedde will dive into pregnancy as a physiological event in the woman’s life, that can be associated with an increased risk of cerebrovascular disease, both on the ischemic and hemorrhagic side. The approach to stroke in pregnancy is particularly tricky from the diagnostic and therapeutic point of view and little evidence is available to support the individual choices.

Taking place 2-4 September 2024, this event brings together stroke clinicians and researchers to enhance the understanding of stroke causes and consequences, and to explore ways to improve prevention and recovery.

Over the course of 3 days, we will collaborate to develop new research questions suitable for PhD or MD projects. At the end of the workshop, participants will present their research questions to a panel of experts.

In the first part of the webinar, led by Dr. Benedetta Storti, the clinical framework will be introduced, with practical examples from the everyday clinic, highlighting some aspects on which there is still much room for research.
The second part, led by Prof. David Werring, will focus on CAA in the scientific literature, exploring recent developments, possible future perspectives and suggesting some good clinical practice rules.

11.04.24 ble det 8. Nasjonale møte om endovaskulær behandling ved akutt hjerneinfarkt arrangert ved UiO/OUS. Møtets program var høyaktuelt, med egen sesjon om platehemmende behandling ved EVT, der vi fikk presentert gode prosedyrer som vil deles nasjonalt. I tillegg ble det diskutert muligheter og begrensinger med bruk av AI, da flere land vi kan sammenligne oss med allerede benytter dette i seleksjon av pasienter til EVT. Bent Indredavik presenterte tall fra Norsk hjerneslagregister, som nå har en egen trombektomi modul, med mange muligheter for fremtidige forskningsprosjekter og videre utvikling av variabler som skal registreres. Professor Tudor G. Jovin avsluttet møtet med et inspirerende foredrag om erfaringer fra Cooper University Hospital. Bergenkonferansen 2023 ble veldig vellykket og var full av engasjerende presentasjoner og diskusjoner! 4 internasjonale bidrag om det prehospitale, om AI og mobile systemer i akuttdiagnostikken, og om sinusvenetrombose som hovedforelesning - utrolig givende å få det større og internasjonale perspektiv. Tusen takk til alle som bidro, og til alle som deltok. Det ligger et nytt år med mye arbeid og mange muligheter for Hjerneslag-Norge foran oss!

NSO gratulerer professor Lars Thomassen med internasjonal utmerkelse for solid arbeid og forskning innenfor hjerneslag over flere tiår.
Hans arbeid har i veldig stor grad utviklet moderne hjerneslagbehandling i Norge.

Han mottok i dag prisen «Nordic Stroke Society Award» på nordisk slagkongress i Kuopio i Finland. I sin forelesning oppsummerte han revolusjoner i slagmedisin og slo et slag for bedre overvåkning av hjernen og økt bruk av ultralyd i akuttfasen.

In this episode, Prof. Gabriel Rinkel (UMC Utrecht Brain Center) and Prof. Nima Etminan ( Universitätsmedizin Mannheim) will discuss current evidence on the management of ruptured intracranial aneurysms and subarachnoid hemorrhage. By the end of the session, the audience will be informed about the contemporary management of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage, including detection and management of delayed cerebral ischemia and current evidence from the latest clinical trials.

Educational Webinar 7 // Decompressive Craniectomy: From evidence to challenging decisions in clinical practice

Dr. Soffien Ajmi (Stavanger University Hospital ) and Dr. Bart van der Worp (UMC Utrecht) will lead the next Educational , focusing on decompressive craniectomy in malignant MCA ischaemic stroke.

Dr. Ajmi will discuss a real-life case demonstrating the complexity of decisions required in clinical practice to balance this life-saving intervention against the probability of severe disability and to what extent this remains valid in patients outside the specific indications of the seminal trials.

Dr. van der Worp will discuss the evidence base and indications in clinical practice for when intervention is appropriate in this population and what we know about more difficult questions that occur in real-life practice.

The webinar will be moderated by Dr. Else C. Sandset and Dr. Alastair Webb.

The presentations will be followed by an interactive discussion between the moderators and presenters, and participants of the webinar.

Ivana Sapina, lege i spesialisering i Nevrologi ved Sørlandet Sykehus Kristiansand, er vinneren av Bergenkonferansens kasuistikk-konkurranse. Ivana presenterte et hyppig dilemma i akuttbehandlingen av hjerneslag, når pasienten presenterer migrene-symptomer. Hun får et reisestipend til en internasjonal hjerneslagkonferanse, utdelt av Maja Villseth fra Drammen. NSO gratulerer!! 🎉👏🏻

Hjerneslag-Norge har i år mistet en av sine pionerer innenfor behandling, forskning og Nevrosonologi. David Russell har vært en nasjonal og internasjonal frontfigur. Han er dypt savnet. 🖤

Vi er glade og takknemlige for en konstruktiv felles sesjon mellom NSO, som talerør for Norges pasienter og hjerneslagmiljøer, og Bjørn Egil Vikse, fagdirektør i Helse Vest, som møtte stedsfortredende for alle regionale fagdirektører. Sammen kan vi bygge ut hjerneslagbehandlingen i Norge videre, i tråd med den rasende faglige utviklingen på feltet.

Så inspirerende å høre på fra Basel og Calgary, som tar Bergenkonferansen til fremtidens muligheter i behandlingen av akutt hjerneslag. Fortsatt mange åpne spørsmål og stadig nye muligheter. 🤩👏🏻

Vi har hatt en spennende dag i går, med info fra NSO og ESO, faglige innlegg, pro og kontra, nytt fra norske multisenterstudier, kasuistikker og blitz-presentasjoner av nye norske doktorgradsavhandlinger innen hjerneslag.
Mye morsomt som venter i dag også, med det internasjonale perspektiv, en politisk sesjon med helsemyndighetene, farmakologiske vurderinger i akuttsituasjonen og organisering av god slagbehandling i Norge. VELKOMMEN!
