Rounding off a successful spring campaign where our men’s team took the win at the NM7s in a fantastically organised tournament by and . We now move in to the summer period, summer touch rugby will continue through July on Thursdays 1900-2030. Hope to see you there 🏉🏆

Well done the boys, who won the EM 7s confrence 1 this weekend, gaining promotion to the EM 7s trophy for next season. Top work to all involved.

Today our Mens team travel up to Haugesund to take part in the first ever Altheis cup, RL 9s hosted by Haugesund Sea Eagles

For this trip we have partnered up with Bergen Rugbyklubb, we wish the boys the best of luck.

After the defeat to Haugesund Sea Eagles in the first round of the Rogalands cup, the boys have been working hard in training and came back to put in solid display against Sandnes Raiders coming away with 40-0 win. Well played to Sandnes who was unlucky not to get on the score board and battled hard the whole game.

2024 blir året vi ser Stavanger tilbake i rugby league og første sesong av Rogalandscupen mellom Raiders, Sea Eagles og Storm. Lagene møtes på borte og hjemmebane. Vinneren av tabellen sammenlagt blir sittende med vandretrofeet og skryterettighetene i et års tid. Rugby League Norge har tatt en prat med kapteinene som spiller i sesongåpningen førstkommende lørdag 20. april på Lassabanen. Her kommer noen ord fra Haugesunds kaptein, Arne Oma Thorsen.
" Vi i Haugesund Sea Eagles er veldig glade for å ha Stavanger tilbake i League! Det var der alt startet for oss med vennskapskamp mot Stavanger på Lassa i 2021. Blir kjekt å igjen få spille mot siddisene!

Sesongoppkjøringen har vært blandet, vi har en god kjerne med mange erfarne spillere, men har ikke hatt den rekrutteringen gjennom vinteren som vi håpet på. Fikk startet året med lister League som alltid er et høydepunkt. Der hadde vi mange gode kamper og tok 2.plassen bak Sandnes Raiders. "

Haugesund kom helt til finalen i landsligaen ifjor og har virkelig funnet formen det siste året. Klarer de å få sin første seier noensinne over Stavanger? Her kommer noen vellvalgte ord fra Adam Jones som er kaptein for hjemmelaget.

"Gutta våre ser bra ut og er klare for å bryne seg på en kamp. Vi er ute etter å gi våre nybegynnere en god dose kontakterfaring og sjekke interessen for hvor gøy gjengen synes rugby league er. Hvem vet, plutselig er vi med i landsligaen igjen?

Rogalandscupen passer perfekt for oss da vi trenger så mye kamperfaring som mulig. Et godt antall kamper med så lite reising kjennes som en luksus. Jeg ser også på dette som en god mulighet til å bygge sterkere samhold i rugbymiljøet her i Rogaland. "

Last night we held our club Annual General Meeting (AGM). Please welcome our new SRK board 🙌🏻 President - Alex Smith, Vice President - Stian Danielsen, Treasurer - Todor Kesarovski, Secretary - Glynn Southie, Social Secretary - Jessica Hoffman, Youth Representative - Felix Odebrett, Recruitment Officer - Birute Pundziute, Development Convenor - Adam Jones, Vara - Ingrid Ringsrud, Vara - Michael Kristiansen. A huge thank you to our previous board members for their immense efforts over the years. Exciting times ahead for SRK.

February is fast approaching. We have one more touch rugby session next Wednesday to close out January at Jåttåvågen. Check out our activity plans for February below.

The SRK AGM is set to Wednesday 7th February 18:00-20:00 at Hansons Minde.

This year we have a number opportunities for you to join the SRK board, where you can help shape the direction of the club.

A number of positions are up for grabs this year, which need to be filled, including: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Vara. The Election and Control committee will also be up for election.

So if you are interested in joining us in one of these key roles for our club, get in touch with the election committee!

Stavanger Berserker Rugby Club sent a group of 11 players to the Horten Youth Rugby tournament this weekend.

If our Watson Cup tournament at the start of September set the bar high for Norwegian youth rugby tournaments, then Horten Rugbyklubb just lifted the bar to another level.

125+ kids enjoying an awesome day of rugby in the sun showed that these type of events are the future for nordic youth rugby.

We joined up with Kristiansand Rugby to put teams into the U15 and U12 groups. It was a tough day at the office for our U15 team mostly made up of 12/13yr olds, but the kids showed some unreal bravery and skill and managed to play some awesome rugby and score some fantastic tries.

The U12 team also had a great time. They had awesome fun; scored loads of great tries and did Stavanger Rugbyklubb proud. Loads of smiles; loads of friendships made. Great weekend topped of with a trip to Aquarama in Kristiansand on the way home.

The Three Swords of Stavanger Rugbyklubb were firmly plunged into the swamp at Voldsløkka on Saturday, as our boys in blue and gold came away with a hard-fought victory against Oslo Sagene IF rugby.

It was a right old slugfest which saw the first half end on 5-0 to Sagene, thanks to sustained pressure from the home team met by some heroic Stavanger defending. From then on our talismanic 10 Iain Redmond began orchestrating a tidal change, with pinpoint kicking and two beautiful tries. Sagene were smashing into our doorstep at the end of the second half, but a vital turnover from Ruairidh Salmon clinched the victory. A true Norwegian rugby classic ended with the score Sagene 5 - 12 Stavanger.

We're so proud of this momentous effort from a team where everyone fights tooth and nail for their brothers. Now onto the next challenge, and building towards the final on October 28th 🗡🗡🗡

The Watson Cup delivers - what a day!

71 young rugby players from Bergen Rugbyklubb, Sandnes Raiders ; Horten Rugbyklubb, Kristiansand Rugby, Fredrikstad Rugby Club Stavanger Berserker Rugby Club in ages categories U11, U14 and U17 took part in our annual Watson Cup.

The day started off with a short coaching session because we had a good mix of league and union participants, to ensure everybody was refreshed on the rules.

The U11s played a 5 vs 5 format of touch-tackle rugby to slow down the contact zone to gain more confidence and finished with a mixed game of full contact 10 vs 10. And it was evident that the confidence had been built through the day, as there was some fantastic rugby on show.

The U17s played 5 vs 5 in a 4 game series of Sandnes Raiders vs Barbarians. There are some seriously talented rugby players in this age group, not to mention the brilliant hairstyles on show! Some of the crunching tackles and hard running lines had even the mens team players in awe.

The U14s played 7 vs 7 with scrums and line-outs uncontested. The U14s were also playing for the coveted Watson Cup, with 4 different teams in this age group it meant a round robin style with the top 2 playing in the final. Again, some excellent free flowing rugby was on show with some great commitment from all teams in the contact zone. After a close round robin it was Bergen vs Horten in the final. And what an exciting final it was! It was even scores up until the last minute but Bergen persisted and managed to dot down a try in the last play of the game to take home the cup. Well done!

The day was finished off with an after party at the local Tjensvoll Bydelshus, with pizza and a disco.

A huge thanks to the referees and match officials for not stopping for about 4 hours! A massive thanks to Alice Little and Adam Jones for their efforts in organising, thank you to Martin Sheridan and all the coaches of all the teams, all the volunteers that helped out with the BBQ and Kiosk. And to all the parents that brought their children along.

It was absolutely amazing to bring the rugby community together for a full day of rugby and to make brilliant connections.

If this group of young rugby players (and the adult support network that goes with them) are indicative of the future of Norwegian Rugby - then the future is very very bright indeed.

We look forward to welcoming you all back next year and we will see you at the next tournament very soon!

A very tough day at office, but hard work pays off.

Bergen Rugbyklubb came to play rugby, and play rugby they did. With a far larger pack than Stavanger, Bergen controlled the breakdowns very well throughout the game. Taking an early 0-3 lead with a penalty on the 22m ( with a Stavanger yellow card to boot).

Stavanger worked hard, and through this got a try midway through the first half. Bergen got another penalty to make the game 7-6, with Stavanger getting a penalty to bring the half to a close at 10-6 .

The 2nd half started the same, with Bergen strong in set plays and breakdowns while Stavanger played more off the cuff, which opened the game game up. We scored 3 tries in the 2nd half, with no points to Bergen. A bonus point was scored in the very last play of the game, after an interception and a 70m run up the field.

Final score, 29-6 Stavanger.

As some of you may already know, the board of Norges Rugbyforbund recently decided to exclude all rugby league activity from their organisation.

Without the symbiotic relationship between our youngsters at Stavanger Berserker Rugby Club and their brothers and sisters of Sandnes Raiders, Haugesund Sea Eagles and Farsund Rugby League, rugby youth development in the southwest of Norway would completely stall and regress. We suspect this would also be the case across the country. Also, our men’s senior team have greatly enjoyed battling our close neighbours at this beautifully rugged variant of rugby, only dropping out last year due to an expanded union fixture list.

Stavanger Rugbyklubb do not support the decision to forcibly split and divide Norwegian rugby. We will continue to work tirelessly toward keeping our beloved sport – niche as it is in this country – strong, united and growing.

Behold, the 2023 Norwegian Champions of 7s!

Well done to our boys and to NTNUI Rugby for what was a fantastic game of rugby.

After going down to very quick try in the first half, we came back strong scoring 3 tries and taking a 19-7 lead into half time.

In the 2nd half NTNUI bounced back well, making it a tense 19-14. From the resulting kick off we scored again, making it 24-14. NTNUI then scored again for 24-21, leading into the last minute of a game which truly could have gone either way. In the end we scored one final try to finish the game off and win 29-21.

Fantastic work from the boys over the whole weekend, and for bringing the NM7s title back to Stavanger.

In our final game of the day, we put in dominate performance, 26-0 at half time and final score of 53-0 vs Trondheim Rugbyklubb .

This should mean we win the group and play in the final tomorrow against NTNUI Rugby

2nd game of the day, with a yellow card to boot we took a 17-0 lead in at half time, the 2nd half was a scrappy performance from both teams, with both teams scoring a try a peice and the game ending 22-5 to Stavanger over Bergen Rugbyklubb

Despite going down 5-0, the boys got a try right on half time for 5-5, a dominant 2nd half saw us run out 19-5 winners against NTNUI Rugby

Mens & Womens social touch rugby starts this week all are welcome to join. Great way to stay fit and Get through the dark months.

The Stavanger Berserker Rugby Club were represented by 27 players, making up 3 teams at the Sandnes Raiders Cup in Sandnes on October 29th. The event attracted over 100 players from 7 clubs across Norway: Farsund Rugby League, Haugesund Sea Eagles, Horten Rugbyklubb, Lillestrøm Lions, Romerike Rottweilers rugby league, Stavanger Rugbyklubb and the hosts, Sandnes Raiders.

It was great to see so many children playing together using a simplified rugby league 7 a-side game. Each 9-15yr age group team got to play 6 matches each, whilst the Minis just kept running!

Despite the obvious age and size difference, the Berserkers really stepped up mentally and physically, showing great maturity of spirit and strategy. A fantastic learning experience with lots of fun had by all.

Stavanger Rugbyklubb send out a big thank you to parents and coaches (Martin, Robin and James) for making it possible for our Berserkers to play at the Raiders Cup. We are also very grateful to our neighbours in Sandnes for some overall great organising.

Here's to Norwegian junior rugby growing ever bigger!

This past weekend, the brave lads of the Stavanger Rugbyklubb senior men's team fought a battle that will go down in Norwegian rugby history. With literally seconds left on the clock in this year's union championship final, Oslo Sagene IF rugby rallied one last time with a peeled maul and snatched victory from our grasp, making the final score 25-21.

Our boys return home with hearts broken but heads raised high, confident in the belief that next year we'll return to the field even stronger and hungrier. We'd like to thank our opponents for a intense and hard-fought match, and the referees for making sure said match was fair and professional.
