I'm going to Thailand this weekend, for the Wonderfruit festival!

To make a techno track which is jazzy, funky, electronic, strange and also with a really catchy beat for a dance floor at the same time is not easy. Anthony "Shake" Shakir has some of those tracks featuring so many good things.

Skatebård – Spektral (Digitalo Enterprises)

"Arriva dalla fredda Norvegia questo album assemblato con una serie di inediti scritti e prodotti tra 2001 e 2005. L’Intro apre le porte del regno degli Asi mandando l’ascoltatore in compagnia di mostri della mitologia nordica ma ciò avviene per appena quaranta secondi perché “Vaskemaskin” trascina immediatamente sulla pista coi suoi turbinii incontrollati madidi di sudore che girano come lame roventi. L’effetto è simile in “Den Anarkistiske Anode”, rivista da DJ Sotofett, un sinuoso serpente di loopismi techno sporcati dal distorsore, e “Seventh”, che riaggancia ipnotismi in stile Maurizio. Con “Bassi” l’artista placa momentaneamente gli impeti più animaleschi adagiandosi su un fondo catramoso fatto di punteggiature housy in stile Chicago della prima ora. Sulle stesse coordinate si colloca “Ei Anna Framtid”, un take beatless di “Future” pubblicata dalla finlandese Keys Of Life nel 2003 che ora diventa un glaciale arabesco ambient techno a cui segue “Strengje”, house mutante scandita dai blip. La chiusura fa nuovamente calare la pressione: “Spektral-Electro” lambisce oscure galassie electroidi mentre in lontananza lampeggiano colori fluo tra nuvole minacciose. Bård Aasen Lødemel continua a toccare con disinvoltura più generi musicali marchiandoli puntualmente con la tipica impronta nordica di atmosfere tristi e riflessive, probabilmente derivata dalla cronica latitanza di sole nella Terra dei vichinghi."
