Body Mass Index (BMI) determines whether your weight is appropriate or not for your height.It is one of the major indicator of nutritional status.It is calculated by dividing weight(kg) by height square (m²).

बॉडी मास इंडेक्स (बीएमआई) ले तपाईंको उचाईको लागि तपाईंको वजन उचित छ कि छैन भन्ने कुरा निर्धारित गर्दछ । यो पोषण स्थितिको सूचक हो। यो तौल (Kg) लाई उचाई वर्ग (m²) बाट विभाजित गरेर गणना गरिन्छ।

An example that shows how to calculate your BMI:

Height(उचाई)=5.7ft =5*12+7=67inches=67*2.54=170cm
=1.7m
Now
BMI=weight(kg)/height square (m²)
=वजन (kg) / उचाई वर्ग (m²)
=60/1.7*1.7
=20.7kg/m²
Thus the man has normal healthy weight for his height.
