Gotta love a happy guest! We’re relieved that our guests can return in level 2. COVID19 cleaning protocol in place. We love staying in a clean place, so we welcome you to a clean place.

We've just bought some beautiful new sheets. I specifically looked for cotton sateen, because I love the silky feeling against my skin, so I figured that my guests love that feeling too. The sheets have such a luxurious luster, it makes one feel truly spoilt, and who wouldn't want that on a night away.
I was curious though, what makes my sheets feel so good? What is sateen? I thought you might be interested too. Did you know, cotton sateen sheets are woven from combed, carded, or long-fiber cotton threads that are then mercerized, meaning they’re soaked in lye and then in acid. Quite a process. Some argue that this process not only strengthens the cotton fibers and makes them more durable, but also gives sateen sheets their signature sheen and helps them accept dye evenly. Sateen sheets, because of the mercerizing process, resist mildew, therefore making them a good choice for anyone suffering from allergies. Sateen is cotton (I love natural fibers!) and so, is breathable and suitable for any season. (Information from Overstock.com) This is not all, the weave is also different, from say percale. While the percale weave is 1 thread over and 1 thread under, the sateen weave is 3 (or more) threads over and 1 under. This makes the percale weave more suitable for hot weather and the sateen weave more suitable for warmer weather, as it holds warmth better (though I personally think they feel nice and cool). Apparently, the sateen structure is weaker than the percale structure, making them more prone to crinkles, and it also means they need to be replaced more often. (Information from thehotelsheet.co.nz) While that may sound like buying them is bad economy, I have personally had many years of 'wonderful feels and nights of sleep' out of my cotton sateen sheets, and that is what I wish for my customers too.

Our guests comment on how clean the place is, and we take pride in it, but ironing..... 🤠 Is that a thing?
