“Turns out the planned Saturday was in the height of Auckland’s Omicron surge. The wedding list had been shaved right down to close family and the build-up had been stressful. But with all the uncertainty, the day was perfect. We were married in the late afternoon sun at my paternal Aunty’s farm near Kawakawa Bay – a place where my family had celebrated many special moments. Having a small, intimate wedding made it peaceful and we were so glad we forged on and did it, rather than postpone.

“A friend suggested Runa May and I liked the look of their collection. I also really wanted to support local designers. I am so grateful that I went with a gracious and timeless look that the Estelle Dress gifted me. It is a dress that made me feel comfortable, (more) confident, and at peace.

“It added to my sense of being good enough right now. So often wedding dresses hold the potential for you to look fabulous…once you’ve lost a few kilos…once you’ve had a full body spray tan…once bits have been taped and flattened. You get the idea. I did none of those things and I’ve never felt so beautiful and appreciated.”
