We are back for the final night at Western Springs Speedway! It’s the last round of the National series and we are looking forward to finishing of the season at the springs strong!

Racing starts at 5:45

Tonight we are racing at Huntly International Speedway for the North Island TQ Championship which will be contested over 2 heat races and a 25 lap feature

Scott is the current champion and will be looking at going back to back, so it should be a good night

Racing starts at 6pm!

Tonight we are racing at Western Springs Speedway for the Heritage Shield, with a quality field it’s looking like a good night!

After a couple of weeks off, we are back at it tonight at Western Springs Speedway for the legends night! All classes will be doing fastest from the back for the features so should be a good night.

🏁 BAKER RACING FINISHES SECOND AT THE NZ TQ GRAND PRIX 🏁

Ryan started the night in heat one from grid 13, after everyone sorted themselves out in the first few laps he managed to progress up into 6th over the 12 laps. In his next heat he started from grid 4 and got into second on the first lap, he had to survive multiple late race cautions to cross the line in second! This qualified him second overall for the 20 Lap feature, he started from grid one and tried to chase the 36a down but just didn’t have the car speed to get it done, so he settled into second!

Lawrence started from grid 1 in heat two, he got a great start and battled for the lead in the first corner only to drop back to third, he stayed there for the first 10 laps almost sneaking into second on the multiple restarts at the end! For he next heat he started from grid 16, and he drove an awesome race going around the outside he made his way up into 5th in the first few laps and then dropped back a spot to bring it home in 6th! This qualified him out of grid 5 for the feature where he came home 7th!

We are back tonight at Meeanee Speedway for the Gold Cup, racing starts at 7pm!

The team is back in action tonight down at Meeanee Speedway for the NZ TQ Grand Prix! Ryan will be in the #15 and Lawrence will be driving the #88 car for the night.

NZ TQ title

What a night! Scott started his first heat from grid 7, after surviving all the carnage, restarts and a track taking rubber from the first heat he managed to bring the car home 6th. For his second heat he started from 8th and tried to to work the top of the track all race and managed to pick off a few cars to finish in 5th! This qualified him 13th for the feature where he would make progress through the field to make it to 8th until he benefited from a late race caution with 2 laps and moved up to finish in 4th!

Ryan also had to survive heat one from grid 12, with the track taking rubber so early passing was at a premium and 3 laps in he clipped a car and spun, luckily he was able to restart from the rear of the field and made his was up to 3rd over the remaining laps! In his next race he started from the front row and drove away to take the win! This top qualified him for the 25 lap A-main where he elected to start from grid 2, he dropped into second early and found a grove that was working before making a move for the lead on lap 5 and pulled a gap on the field until about 3 laps to go, he got caught in lapped traffic and got held up which allowed the 1nz car to reel him in! Coming to the white flag a lapped car drifted high into his lane slowing his momentum and allowed other lapped cars back passed, he then tried to go up the inside of the lapped car into turn one but unfortunately that resulted in contact that sent him high in the turn, he continued on unaware his tie rod was bent back into the chassis until he tried to turn underneath the 1nz car which resulted in more contact and unfortunately a DNF.

We are back at Western Springs Speedway tonight for the NZ TQ Championship and International midget 40 lapper!

🏆 BAKER RACING WIN AT WESTERN SPRINGS SPEEDWAY 🏆

Ryan started the night in heat 1 from grid 5, he was able to move into 2nd quickly and then chased down the leader only to run out of laps, in his next heat he started from grid 10, he got to the top of the track early and made steady progress through the field catching the leader with two laps to go and then managed to make a last corner pass for the win! This top qualified him for the 15 lap A-Main where he led from start to finish to take out his 3rd win of the season! 🏁

Scott had a good start to the night starting from grid 8 in heat 2 he moved into 5th early and stayed there until the finish, for his next heat he started from grid 7 and managed to move through the field using the top of the track to take third. This qualified him out of grid 4 for the A-main, he was running in 4th early and then tried to make a pass which resulted in contact with the car in third and he was sent to the rear, after this he drove from 20th to 8th!

🏆 BAKER RACING TAKE OUT THE TOP SPOTS AT THE BOXING DAY BASH 🏆

Ryan’s night started from grid 13 in heat 2, he progressed through the field making his way up to 6th at the finish! For his next race he got to start from grid 2 where he lead from start to finish. This qualified him 2nd equal for the feature. But due to having the faster lap in qualifying he got to start from grid 1, where he got to the lead early and never looked back taking out his second win of the season! 🏁

Scott’s night started from grid 1 in heat 1, he dropped into second early and trailed the leader closely all race but just couldn’t get a pass done. In his second heat he started from grid 12, he got away to a great start and made his way up into second! This top qualified him for the feature where he start from grid 2 and that’s where he stayed for the duration of the race.

The night started on a nice and wet heat 1 due to time constraints where Ryan started from grid 8 and moved up into 4th place by the finish! For heat 2 he started from grid 5 and worked his way up through the field to take the lead on the last lap and take the win! This top qualified him for the 15 lap A-Main where he got the lead into turn one and survived multiple cautions in a crash filled race to eventually pull away and take his first win of the season! 🏁

🏆 BAKER RACING WINS THE FEATURE AT SPRINGS SPEEDWAY 🏆

Scott’s night started in heat one from grid 13, over the race he managed to make some moves and bring the car home in 7th. In his next heat he was of grid 2 and took the lead from the start pulling away from the field taking the win. This qualified him 2nd= for the A-Main, he got an awesome start and was able to control the race pulling away to take the win! 🏁

Ryan’s night also started in heat one from grid 8, he managed to bring the car home 5th at the line! For his second heat he also started grid 8 and made his way through the field to finish in 3rd. This qualified him in 2nd= for the A-Main where he started from grid 3. Unfortunately only the bottom of the track was fast so he couldn’t move forward and crossed the line in 4th.

🏆 BAKER RACING TAKES OUT THE AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIP AT SPRINGS SPEEDWAY 🏆

Scott managed to survive a wild heat one starting from grid 6 he worked his way up to second before contact with a slowing car sent him half spinning onto to infield, he managed to save it, rejoin the race and drive back up to finish in 3rd! In his second heat of the night he started on grid 13 and used the top of the track to work he was up to 2nd. This top qualified him for the feature where he drove away from the field to take out the Auckland Championship 🏁

Ryan started his night in heat one from grid one, after getting out to the lead his car unfortunately shut down and we were unable to locate the problem in time for his next races.

As preparations are well underway for the coming season at Western Springs Speedway, we thought we should wrap up what happened in the year that has gone!

18/19 was another successful season for the team. We managed to take out 11 out of 11 A-Mains at the Springs and 4 others around the North Island, which included winning the North Island Champs for the 3rd year in a row and the Springs Track Championship for the 7th time. Unfortunately the trip south to the Nationals at Ruapuna didn’t go as planned but the team was fortunate enough to come away with another NZ Champs podium finish.

With the recent Auckland TQs - ATQMA awards being held the team was also recognised for our achievements and came away with the following awards:

Ryan had an awesome start to the night at Stratford Speedway, he started his first heat from grid 4, dropped back to 5th early and then made his way to the front of the field to take the heat win! In his second heat he started from grid 8 and made his way through to take out second at the finish. He went into the last heat starting 3rd and managed to bring the car home in second, securing the Taranaki Championship! 🏆
