Hello everyone, I am Fiona, a new intern at Green Office Toitu.
I am excited to be a part of the Green Office Toitu, an organization dedicated to promoting environmental consciousness and sustainability on our campus. We are on a mission to make a positive impact on our campus, foster a sense of responsibility towards the environment, and inspire everyone to adopt eco-friendly habits.
I firmly believe that every small action counts, and as students, we have the power to drive significant change when we unite towards a common goal. So, I encourage each and every one of you to come and visit us at Green Office Toitu, located at Campus level one. Let's engage in meaningful conversations, share ideas, and work together to build a greener and more sustainable future.
See you at Green Office Toitu!
Hi, everyone. I am Vivi from GOT.
Before my internship, I used to find it challenging to connect with people at Campus. But everything changed when I joined Green Office Toitu! 🤝 I teamed up with my amazing office buddy, Trinh, and together, we embarked on sustainability projects that made a difference on campus. We even became great friends, grabbing lunch together and sharing our passion for a greener future!
But that's not all! As part of my role, I conducted numerous interviews with fellow students, giving me the chance to connect with even more inspiring individuals who shared their sustainability stories. It was incredible to see the diverse perspectives and ideas within our Campus.
To spread the sustainability buzz even further, I took charge of the Green Office Toitu newsletter. 📰🌿 Through this platform, I shared stories, tips, and initiatives happening on campus, reaching a wider audience and inspiring others to join our sustainable journey! 🌱💚
I can't wait to return after the break and continue propelling our sustainable efforts at the Green Office Toitu
Hi everyone, I'm Trinh from GOT. I hope you've been enjoying our posts throughout the block. This will be my last post here at GOT and I wanted to reflect on what I enjoyed the most about my time here.
What could be more fantastic than engaging in new activities and meeting new people in a familiar environment at OPAIC? I am truly grateful to Green Office Toitū for providing me with invaluable experiences. The most exciting experience I have had here is the Aureate Reforestation trip. It took us about a two-hour drive to Waihi. I had the opportunity to go on this journey with my friend Vivi along with Dani, Ann and Patricia. Together, we successfully planted 152 native trees. I feel proud to contribute to environmental regeneration and make the Earth greener. Green Office Toitū has opened up a new world for me, where I not only have the opportunity to develop myself but also connect with like-minded individuals who share the same passion and vision.
Remember, the future is in our hands, so let's take action today for a better tomorrow. Keep spreading the green! 🌿💚

🌍 Exciting Interview with Nenie: A Passionate Advocate for Sustainability! 🌱
We recently had the opportunity to interview Nenie, an inspiring advocate for sustainability, about her perspective on environmental issues and her role in the Campus Carbon Footprint project at OPAIC. Nenie's cultural background in a developing country has shaped her understanding of the importance of sustainable practices. Growing up in an environment where plastic usage and carbon emissions were common, she realized the need for change.
Nenie's journey towards sustainability began when she joined the SDGs Center at her university and fell in love with the concept of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Beyond carbon footprint reduction, Nenie is passionate about SDGs and how to implement carbon offsetting.
In her personal life, Nenie integrates sustainability practices on a daily basis. She utilizes public transport, minimizes plastic usage, and reduces food waste. Her commitment to making a positive impact on the environment is truly inspiring.

🌱🌿🌳 Today, we had the privilege of interviewing Patricia, one of the passionate volunteers from Aureate Reforestation. Patricia has always been deeply committed to sustainable development activities and now, she has brought these habits to New Zealand, firmly believing that everyone can contribute to sustainable development, whether it's reducing the use of plastic products or opting for public transportation.
In this tree-planting event, an all-female team came together and planted a remarkable 152 native trees of New Zealand. For Patricia, this experience marked her first time engaging in a truly meaningful and awareness-building activity. Join Green office Toitu with Patricia dedication towards creating a greener future! 🌿🌏💚
Last Friday, 12/5, marked a significant day for our Green Office Toitū team. Together with our dedicated GOT Coordinator, Dani Mao, and our hardworking volunteers - Trinh, Vivi, Patricia and Ivy, we embarked on a mission to plant a native forest at Waihi. We successfully planted 152 locally sourced, native Aotearoa trees including manuka, kanuka, makomako, akeake, and harakeke.
Our aim? To create a thriving habitat for New Zealand's unique birdlife and establish a permanent carbon sink, playing a part in restoring the area's natural ecosystem. We're proud to lay down these roots and hope to set an example for others.
By taking steps like these, we believe in disarming climate change, reducing carbon emissions, and preserving our beautiful land.
"Attention to all students! The Green Office Toitū team is excited to announce the launch of the Campus Carbon Footprint project! Led by three dedicated student volunteers, Nenie, Marlou, and Amol, this ambitious initiative aims to measure our institution's environmental impact. We've already started spreading awareness through informational videos and conversations with students, but now we need your help! Keep an eye out for our team, who will be collecting Carbon Footprint data from students starting on the 16th. Let's all do our part in the fight against climate change and make a positive impact on our campus and our planet. "
🌱 Exciting News from Green Office Toitū! 🌱
We're thrilled to announce our upcoming trip to Waihi as part of our ongoing collaboration with Aureate Reforestation. Since the start of our partnership in April 2022, we've made incredible progress towards our goal of creating an indigenous forest that serves as a sanctuary for local wildlife and a long-term carbon sink.
As we prepare for our next expedition, we're immensely grateful for the generous donation of 4 Manuka trees from the Motutapu Restoration Trust. These precious additions will soon root themselves in Waihi, further enriching the biodiversity of the verdant native forest we're so passionately cultivating.
We can't wait to share more updates from our reforestation journey. Stay connected and watch this space!
