Many of us can relate to Ted, a JAI member celebrating his 2nd year anniversary! Ted, a computer engineer by day, admits he wasn't always a gym rat. In fact, his gym memberships usually resulted in a week of enthusiasm followed byβ¦ well, π¦π¦π¦ But two years ago, everything changed for Ted. Here at JAI, he found his fitness groove and a supportive community. Two years and a whopping 500 classes later, Ted is completely transformed! The best part? Ted only committed to one month at first. That single month turned into a life-changing habit, proving that small commitments can lead to big results. Can you relate to Ted? All you have to do is just show up. You might surprise yourself with what you can achieve! For more on Ted, visit the link on our bio!
In this video, we meet Alvin, a Muay Thai trainer at JAI Auckland, whose story is one of grit, resilience, and unwavering passion for the "Art of Eight Limbs." Alvin's journey began in Thailand, his home for two decades. His first fight, a dream turned reality, ended in a devastating TKO loss against a seasoned Thai champion. This wasn't just defeat; it was a serious injury that sidelined him for six grueling months. But for Alvin, this wasn't the end. It was a turning point. Watch as he shares how he used his recovery not to wallow, but to grow. He studied the sport, honed his skills, and most importantly, rekindled his love for Muay Thai. Alvin went on to fight 17 more battles, each one a testament to his unyielding spirit. Now, back in New Zealand, he brings his unique perspective to both his Muay Thai and Strength & Conditioning classes. His training sessions, inspired by his aggressive fighting style, are designed to help you unleash your inner warrior and turn your passion into powerful strikes. But Alvin's story isn't over. The fire in the ring still burns. He dreams of lacing up his gloves once again, facing the challenge of overcoming his past injuries and returning to fighting weight. Last event: Reality check , not just cool pics βοΈ Our fighters faced a tough team, took hits to the body and ego. But for those stepping back in, it's time to train harder, smarter . Remember, everyone fights for different reasons, but cool pix for the gram shouldn't be the main one. (Even though we have excellent photographers in our team π). When the bell rings, only you know whether you put in . And if you have the heart and spirit we look forward to helping you train to be the toughest, most noble version of yourself. Ready to answer the call? π· @m.j.white1 #NoPainNoGain #TrueGrit #BeyondTheGram #FightForPurpose #muaythainewzealand
**Heart over Height These young warriors, Hendrix & Ermais (only 14!), stepped into their FIRST fight ever at our event two weeks ago, and left everything in the ring! Their size and experience didn't hold them back - they fought with heart, grit, and a never-give-up spirit that had the crowd ROARING! No wonder they won Fight of the Night. The future is BRIGHT for these two future champions! β¨ #YoungGuns #futureomuaythai #HeartOfALion #NeverGiveUp #NextGenFighters **

If you canβt respect gym staff, stay home. We have rules for one reason β to make JAI a better place to train. What makes us so sure that we know what is best for everyone? We donβt, and we know that one size doesnβt fit all. So we do our best to come up with rules, which allow people train safely, without being too draconian. If you donβt agree with them, come have a chat with the team. We welcome feedback and constructive discussion. Whatever gives us the opportunity to make a JAI a more comfortable place for everyone is a worthwhile investment in time. But please donβt argue with our staff when they are just doing their jobs. One of their rules is to treat everyone fairly and by doing that means not making exceptions for anyone. In case you need a refresher you can find our gym rules on our website. Thank you for your understanding πππ
We've all got one (or a few). That training buddy who makes training that much more enjoyable. Whether it's keeping you accountable for every kick, knee, elbow and punch. Pushing you past your comfort levels. Making you laugh out loud - even when you can barely breathe. Catching up with the goss - without missing a beat in the combo. Or simply letting you kick in silence. Cos while fighting can be solitary, training in twos is twice the fun.
Now that the last classes of 2021 are done and dusted weβd like to take this opportunity to wish yourselves and your families a wonderful and safe year-end no matter where you may be. Thank you for all your support throughout 2021. Itβs been a challenging time but we are lucky to have such understanding members who keep us going. Without you guys there would be no JAI. Weβre taking tomorrow off but will be back at training on Sunday in Auckland and Monday in Welly. Wellington members please remember to use the gym master app to book classes from now on. Stay safe and see you in 2022! βοΈβοΈβοΈππππ₯³
