Mamna Nite (powered by United Sports Club)π
United sports club didnβt reach its name without the support of the ladies.
So it was great to see the inclusion of them within the sporting arena.
In 2021, New Zealand Gujarati held its first-ever female sports competition in the form of a netball tournament, which saw the participation of two teams from United. The tournament was a resounding success, which prompted an even larger and more successful event in 2022 and 2023. This success led to the formation of the United ladies committee, aimed at supporting and empowering the girls in the team. To prepare for the tournament, the players underwent trials, and over 20 girls of all ages competed to secure a spot on either the United A or B team. United A were runners up in both 2022 and 2023.
The United ladies committee organized two successful fundraisers in support of the team. This marks a significant milestone, as the United ladies are now coming together after years of continuous support to the boys' teams.
Blast from the past to 2023.
Oh how time has flown.
Over the years we have seen United Sports Club Auckland grow and with it, itβs players.
United -
Founded by its members back in the late 90s it was established as a social group mainly to catch up with friends from fiji and to play some soccer. It was made up of players from different Samajβs. Everyone was welcome regardless of which Samaj you were from.
To this day, United still carryβs itself based on accepting anyone. Whether they are Darji, Mochi, Kachia, Khatri, Dhobi , Soni , Christian, Patelβs and Gujarati Muslim.
To share some history of Unitedβs soccer team captured over the years. 4 pictures attached to show how over time, the players who have represented the club in football - some still got their boots on and some have moved on. These include the hard working team managers the coaches who have raised the bar of how we are as a team and as a club.
