[ PHOTO VS DRAWING ]
These are the two images I used to create 'Embrace Courage'. Thanks to Corinne Ammann for the beautiful photographs from the FB group Free reference photos for artists.
● New drawing underway ✍️
I'm using Art Spectrum Colorfix paper instead of Pastelmat 😬
The last time I used this paper was 3 years ago when I first started my pastel journey and was trying to find 'the perfect' paper. I discovered this wasn't the perfect paper and tucked it away and never touched it again until now - only because I ran out of Pastelmat🙈. Now that I have some experience using pastels I actually don't mind the texture of this paper. It does take a bit of getting used to though - it's just like fine grain sandpaper.

I have finally finished him🙌

I wanted to give this guy a fitting title as a reminder to seek courage and strength when you are going through adversities. 2023 certainly started with a bang and is continuing to throw a punch but I'm learning to put my trust and faith in Him and I know what I am facing now will only make me stronger in the end 💪
If anyone is still wanting to commission me to create something special for them I'm not going to say no. I don't know when we will be relocating to Tauranga and I am tired of waiting in limbo until then so send me a message and we can go from there😁
[ HAPPY WORLD ART DAY ]
Today's date is a celebration which helps reinforce the links between artistic creations and society, encourages greater awareness of the diversity of artistic expressions and highlights the contribution of artists to sustainable development. Let's keep making art🙌💕
[ HE IS RISEN ] Happy Easter Sunday everyone💕
How great does monochrome look?
Black and white hues definitely give a portrait a more deeper, moody, edge to it. I just love how it emphasizes these two lovebirds 🖤

Oh Remy, you beauty 🖤
Look at those striking eyes and how she usually rests her paws, one on top of the other - so cute

Beautiful Charlie🤍
I was lucky enough to create two portraits of this little lady. Once as a puppy and another of her all grown up. Look at how much fluff she has now.

I always enjoy seeing other artists' comparisons so I thought I would jump on the band wagon and do it too 😁
... And she is finished.
I am so happy with the way this portrait turned out. What a beautiful ball of fluff. Let me know what you think.

I finally have some of my own art hanging in my office. It's about time. The one above is a giclee print titled 'Bos Ta**us' and the one below is an orginal titled '4864'. I have a thing for drawing cattle🙈
It's so hard to choose but I think these would have to be my top 9 favourite pastel drawings for 2020

New drawing of a New Zealand Pukeko underway✍🏻
I am so excited about this one. There are so many amazing photographs of these birds on Instagram but this particular image really grabbed me. The subtle background, composition and foliage in the foreground 👌🏻❤
Thank you for allowing me to use your beautiful image.
If you haven't seen Paul Belli's other photographs go have a look and give him a follow. You wont be disappointed 👍🏻
My first batch of limited edition giclee prints arrived this afternoon. Now to sign and number them before sending them off to their new homes next week. The quality is👌🏻

How surprised was I to win the best overall exhibit as well as selling my 'Bos Ta**us' drawing within two and a half hours of the exhibition opening. This is definitely a true testament for me to keep doing what I love doing - TO KEEP CREATING REALISTIC AND DEATAILED DRAWINGS✍🏻✍🏻✍🏻 And.... a very BIG thank you to for allowing me the opportunity to display my pastel drawing and for awarding me with The Best Overall Exhibit award. I am very humbled and honoured.

Original: 24cm x 30cm
Soft pastels and pastel pencils on Pastelmat.
Thought I would tackle the white owl before starting my next commission. This one was originally going to be A2 in size but I am so glad I settled with A4. I am having a hard enough time with all this yellow as it is🌼🤦♀️ My brain is telling me to copy the field of flowers exactly how I see it in the photograph but my fingers just can't do it🙈 Ahhh... The next time you see him again... he should hopefully be finished.
